    the 7 day break

of the contraceptive pill, do you have to take the break? cos I've finished my first pack now of the pill and it tells me in the leaflet to take a 7 day break where I will bleed but I have been bleeding already for 3 weeks so I dont really want more bleeding...but if I dont take the break, will the bleeding still remain the same or get worse?

My friend told me if you dont take the break, you skip your next period which is what I wanted to do. but I'm afraid if I dont follow the guidelines of the pill, it'll complicate my body even further.

    Any advise?

    Much appreciated.

That does not work will all pills, only the monphasic types. What pill are you on ? How long have you been on the pill ? If you have been bleeding for 3 weeks I would call the dr.

I'm on Microgynenon 30. I went on it 3 weeks ago...had a period then I've had breakthrough bleeding since..still have it now. I was going to ring the doctor but everybodys told me to give it more time as its my body adjusting.

I think I'm going to take the 7 day break anyway....it might confuse my body further if I dont take the break.

Your pill is monophasic so once you are established with your cycles then you can skip your "period". I would wait 3 months though, by then the spotting should be done and you should be ok.

        Good luck !

I decided to carry on taking the pill, not to have the break...I know its a risk but I spoke to my mum about it and she seemed to think that there shouldnt be a problem if I really want to skip my next period if possible. But she warned me to stop completely if I get any bad pains or anything.

I'm still experiencing withdrawal bleeding, although it feels like a real period at the moment...its heavy enough to be one.
I'm not prepared to wait 3 months for it to calm down, as its not convenient for me to bleed for 3 months especially at the start of a new relationship so I've decided to see the doctor next week...see what they say about it. I cant just sit around and wait anymore....its been 3 weeks now of bleeding and i'm so fed up of it.
