Life after the Depo shot. (a little bit long)

So this is my story I am horroble at remembering to take the pill so my doctor recomended the Depo shot. She said it would be great because I would just have to remember to keep my appointment every three months. I had tried the patch and had a horrible rash break out so that didn't work. I've also given the Nuva ring a shot and it kept coming out wheather it was sex or even just using the restroom. So a quick shot every three months sounded pretty good. The doctor said I would gain a little wieght but regular excersize should keep it under control.
I was on it for a little over two years. It worked very well for me, I had very few side effects. What I experienced was a very light period that came once every three months. It lasted for about three weeks and only a few drops of blood a day so I maintained with pantliners with little or no cramping. I gained almost 20 pounds and yes I excersize regulary (3x a wk.). My appetite was huge, I was usually always hungry. I ended up taking Hoodia to supress my eating. Also, my sex drive was completely wiped out and I had mild breast tenderness once every few months.
I enjoyed my not having to worry about getting pregnant and not much of a period. My boyfriend on the other hand was miserable. It was almost impossible to get me turned on and we never had sex any more. Our love life wasn't there, there was no passion/romance on my part and it felt like we were just friends all of the sudden. I wanted my relatioship back so I decided that it was my last one. The next visit when I would be getting my shot I got a perscribtion for YAZ. My doctor said nothing about me not getting my period. After the first month when I didn't get it I though I must be pregnant. I went in for a test and then they explained that I need to "adjust" to the new pill. At that time I still was not informed that I may not get my period for a few months. Month 2 passed still no period I called the doctor and they said I was fine. Month 3 passed and it was time to get more pills they told me not to get more pills. My doctor said I should stay off the birth control until my period comes. At that time when I am finally experiencing a period I should come in for a new perscribtion. Well I am on month 4 and no period yet. It wasn't until I reserched online that I discovered I may not get my period for up to a year after my last injection. I will tell you what I have been experiencing since my last injection. I had have had horrilbe cramping in my uterus area as well as my lower back every month at the same time. It lasts a couple of days and goes away. Severe brest tenderness all of the time, sometimes they are too sore for even a bra. I have been experiencing really bad mood swings and anything can make me irritated and ready to cry. I have been really depressed and am looking into anti-depressants just to try and feel normal again. Oh and by the way my sex drive still has not returned. The way I feel these days I don't want to be touched. Thankfully by boyfriend is trying to be sensative and helping me cope.

Thank you for reading this its really helped me to write this. If you have any suggestion as to what could help please let me know. And think twice before taking this drug it is life altering!

Now I'm off it, i really regret ever being on the pill, it really messes up your menstruation cycle. that s what i think

I think if I had done my research before I had just said yes I would have decided on something else. The problem is we trust our doctors way too much and don't ask enough questions before taking it. I am going to get a bone density test because I also found out that if you're on it for over 2 years it could have irreversable damage to your bones.

I took the depo shot once because i also am bad at remembering to take pills every day. I was due back this past february for my second shot and didn't do it. I don't remember having side affects that bad, a little weight gain but that was it. I have never had regular periods, and i have still not had one since before my one and only depo shot in november. Im not sure i would really recommend the shot to anyone.
