    endometriosis

I was just wondering if anyone has endometriosis. I was asking about painful menstruation and birth control. Someone mentioned that it sounded like endometriosis, and my mom did have to have a total hysterectomy because of it. I guess there are other treatments though. Do they help? Have any of you noticed a difference? I am going to talk to my doctor about it, hopefully she will listen. I am hoping that maybe this is the answer to my menstrual pain, I just want to control it!

Well I know for sure endometriosis runs in families! My mother, her mother, my aunt and cousins on that side ... all have it. And I had extremely painful periods (got worse and worse with time) until I started BCP, which is the first line of defense according to my doctor. I hope yours listens to you.

I was looking up the treatments, and actually its strange. I am on BCP for the cramping and irregular bleeding. I had prescription ibprophen and I have tried adjusting my diet for it. The BCP helped, but I hope there is more that can be done. Prefferably without surgery. But I am willing for that. I know doctors wouldn't want to do it though, since I am only 21.

I've had endo. for a long time. I would think long & hard b4 u have a hyster. b/c u r so young. Plus, I've heard women say they have a hyster. & still have the endo. I had a laparoscopy (surgery) which really helped. Has the doc mentioned this option at all?
