    menopause or not

    hi
im new here, so im not quite sure if im doing this right. ive just turned 40 and am up for surgery. 7 years ago i had a partial hysterectomy, leaving me with only one ovary. i suffered from endometriosis at the age of 12 until my surgery 7 years ago. i ve been having cysts grow and rupture on the ovary. it has made me sick and the pain is just like going through my periods all over again. i am scheduled to see a surgeon about having it removed. ive read some scary stuff about the diseases i can have, such as dementia and parkinsons. is it going to be worth it and has anyone out there had this problem? HELP!

So sorry Karen, and welcome to the Forum.

Seems you have been dealing with alot within your life.

Do you know what's the scary part? Is when we read and "assume" that we have something that hasn't been proven that we actually have it.

Stop reading and go back and have a chat with your Doctor before surgery and ask what side effects if any happen from this surgery, and also of your concerns.

Always let "experts" give you the advise about your own "individual" body, not what you read that may or may not be.

Your just adding un-due and un-wanted stress upon yourself.

Let us know how you go.

    Take care.

Hi, i have to agree with Chandlers Wish. Im am only 22 and I am on HRT now which I know I am going to be on for the next 20 years or more. I had a hysterectomy at 17 and my ovaries removed last may at 21. All due to Endometriosis. It is scary to think of everything I am now open to going through the menopause so young but being on HRT does lessen the risk by a great amount. Talk to your consultant/doctor and tell them your fears.

I hope you get some answer. And please remember everything you read online is 99% of the time a worst case scenario!
