Hi swisschelc.
1. Don't have unprotected sex.
2. Guys will lie. Don't trust him to not cum, make him wear a rubber. Better safe than sorry.
3. The Doctor's asked you about a possible pregnancy because extreme pain and heavy flow can be signs of a miscarriages, and if you had taken a preg test that came back positive, they would have been able to say quite easily "Well, you were pregnant, now you're not. Keep in mind that the previous sentence is not "You had a miscarriage".
4. Doctor's are SMART PEOPLE who are extremely well educated and professionals. You will not find better advice on a forum than you will from a doctor.
4a. Ectopic pregnancies are very rare and if you had an ectopic pregnancy, your doctor's would've caught it; the symptoms are not hard to catch.
5. If you had your menstruation, you are not pregnant.
6. You should keep in mind that your mind has a funny way of influencing how you feel with your subconscious thoughts. It could be that this period you had was not worse than others, but you were super worried about a possible pregnancy, which is something you don't usually deal with. That mindset then lends itself to thinking all sorts of wild things like ectopic pregnancies and stuff that isn't likely. These kinds of thought patterns are exacerbated in modern times by ready access to information that might concern you.
7. If you are still concerned you might be pregnant, an answer is $10 and a trip to the pharmacy away. -

men lie
rockandahardplace
put it well. Men do lie. They claim they'll withdraw,
or they didn't come....
forget it.
No condom/no sex.
You could have had a one month miscarriage, which
does feel like a heavy period, or you stressed your
self into this.
Regardless...
the anxiety is surely not worth it.
As it says on the Slam Pack...'no glove/no love'

Hi Swisschelc,
Its totally understandable for you to be worried!! You are young, just learning about all of this, and concerned. You did the right thing by going to the hospital, and I'm sure you will be ok. Take the great advice the other women gave you as well! We just did some experiments on pregnancy tests in pharmacy school a couple weeks ago. Just in case you ever find yourself in this situation again, there are several kits that are very cheap and just as accurate as the expensive ones. Just ask the pharmacist, because he or she will know which one is best for you based on how long ago you had unprotected sex.Comment
