Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me. I have a bi coronal uterus, and had a thermal ablation done a few years ago. And it has no longer worked. I have started having periods that last months!!! My Gynecologist won't preform another Ablation on me. She believes my old Dr should never have done the procedure in the first place. Between my age (24 at the time) and the shape of my uterus. Anyways I'll be 30 in a few weeks so the ablation did last me a few years. I wouldn't mind giving it another try, but is it safe? I've done searches on-line and have not been able to find anything on thermal Ablation done on someone with a bi coronal uterus. Surely its been done before and I'm just not find it. Nor about it being done twice on a "normal" uterus.

Anyways my questions are should I try this ablation again (provided it is safe), or just go ahead and get the hysterectomy that my Dr suggests is best?

Since I can not have children anymore anyways removing my uterus doesn't really bother me in that sense, but I'm reluctant to give up any "parts" What are the draw backs? Will this hurt me a few years down the road not having my uterus anymore? I'm kind of scared about this all.

Can someone please help me with this? Any information would be very much appreciated! I go into see my Dr on Feb. 2nd (Friday!) and i'd like to be armed with as much info as I can before I do either operation. Thanks!

Hi jokealca! Don't be too reluctant to give up your uterus. Your periods will dissappear and you will feel better. My hysterectomy was in October and I'm feeling 100% better. Ask your doctor if the ablation would be safe, but please follow your doctor's suggestions. The hysterectomy would be my first choice, but then again I'm 47 and have dealt with heavy periods, and using birth control pills to control them for years.

Thanks for repling... how long was your recovery? I've had 2 c-sections and the 2nd one I took no pain medicines and I left the hospital on my 2nd day since I didn't feel I should be there as I had no pains, and I had another daughter at home and didn't want to be at the hospital.

One of my concerns probably shouldn't be a factor BUT I'm going to Ireland at the end of March if I get the surgery done on Weds. (Feb. 7th) is when she would do it, do you think thats plenty of time? I'm not sure if it would be much different than a c-section, they will cut me the same way (worse case) hopefully laproscopic will be an option. But I don't want my surgeries recovery to be a problem with my trip, but then again I'd like to not be bleeding the whole trip either!
