Premenstrual pain and emotion...what a gift!!!

it is so important to remember that whatever is going on in the body is happening for a reason. and that reason is your body saying, 'hey, need you to pay attention here.' if your body is in pain, it is screaming out to you asking you to give it the attention it needs. struggling against it and trying to cover it up or pretend its not happening it only fuelling the fire. Premenstrually, physical and emotional pain can often be a reflection of stored emotion such as anger, frustration, resentment, jealousy, etc. Livery kind of emotion. So what needs to be expressed? what has been stored inside for such a long time that your body is not screaming at you. because the only way for physical pain and emotional pain to be released from the body is if it is felt. this is where the support of friends, loved ones and even a healer/practitioner is vital. someone who can hold space for you to just let it all out, not just once...often!!! let the wild woman be FREE!

this phase of the cycle is related to the season of Autumn. It is here that the energy shifts inward, and it is here that most women begin to put up a struggle. This phase has had a bad wrap all round. Yet, it is probably THE most powerful phase of all. This is also the most creative time of the cycle and should be tap into this energy we can really optimize our creativity which is such an important part of being a woman. I also call this phase TRUTH time. It is a time of really cutting through all of the and really using this wild energy to get straight to the point and be honest.

No offense, but if that be the case, why do people suffer PMT, (only) at the time before their Cycle, that being the only time their body "screams" with pain...

If logically, our bodies are trying to let go of suppressed anger/jealousy, etc, that would occur at any time, not purely and only prior to and during a cycle.

I don't disagree with "listening to our bodies" and I don't disagree with "natural remedies" as I stated, with myself, during and before a cycle which is what your thread was about, I concentrate on the fact that our brain can control pain, through concentration and I believe this is why meditation is good for us.

no offence taken. the letting go of these emotions can occur at any time but due to the way the energy moves through our body in this particular phase of the cycle, we are extremely sensitive and vulnerable. It is this vulnerability that is the doorway to our deepest knowing of who we are. Pain occurs in our body at different times, in different ways and for different reasons. the pain that is related to the cycle will usually have some kind of link to the woman's experience and conditioning of what it is to be a woman. so many experiences contribute to this as 'woman' has endured much over many lifetimes.

It is definately our thoughts that create our experience but the purpose of meditation for me is to be of 'no mind'. and in my experience we can only arrive at this place if we actually acknowledge what is in the way of it rather than ignoring it cos it is going to keep coming up again and again until we do.

            That makes sense.

Darn emotions are the worst at that time

It is definately our thoughts that create our experience but the purpose of meditation for me is to be of 'no mind'.
That's true, you are meant to think of "nothing", it is mindset irrespective, as you have to have the mindset to realise that this is another method and way in which to release from your body... Instead of taking asprin...

            Good points...

You can also meditate on something. Which is a good way to focus your energy and learn to clear out the nonsense. We all get so bombarded daily, we need some "down" time to stay balanced

You all make your time of the month seem somewhat peaceful. I'm anything but! I can be moody but the majority of the time I dont talk or pay attention because I'm in so much pain. I can't sit still because of 'the bum ache' I pace up and down but eventually 'the thigh shredder' kicks in Pain killers don't work if they do its for about half an hour. I wish I had the patience to meditate or think my pains away. Right now it all sounds like a good idea but I know in myself, that when the time comes I'll be thinking 'meditating thinks its can concur this son of a? pfffft never'

mmm, am not suggesting it is all peace, love and roses. I know that it can be a horrible time. Is your pain all throughout your bleeding or just a few days? have you tried feeling the pain rather than trying to make it go away - this is what makes it stronger. feeling it helps it to move through. and have you also tried to get some support from a Chinese Medical practitioner? they can help to rebalance your body from the source of the imbalance.

Throughout, til the last very drop and ohhh I've felt the pain but I have to try and get rid of it because I work on a till without a seat and the pain is in my legs and bum. I've researched it and found very few women that suffer in the same way as me (apart from my siblings) It just makes me feel helpless...I can't even stress how painfull it is
