As has already been suggested several times load yourself down with probiotics. There are several products in most pharmacies next to the digestive tract supplements and fiber and live culture yogurt will help. Some have even gone so far as to stick plain live culture yogurt with no sugar added in to their vagina to help replace the useful bacteria. Apple cider vinegar with the mother still in it (you would probably have to go to a health food or organic section of a store) will also contain many useful bacteria and yeast along with vitamins and minerals. Plain apple cider vinegar in the cooking or salad section is not useful for this unless it says it still contains the mother. I'm not sure I'd use it down there although there is a recipe for a douche with very diluted vinegar using bottled or distilled water to help prevent yeast infections.

It goes away when you take antibiotics and comes back a few days later? That would be bacterial but if it keeps returning then either you aren't taking antibiotics long enough or more likely the antibiotics have also killed the good bacteria with the bad. We are constantly exposed to harmful bacteria but they don't get a chance to take over because there are already useful bacteria living there. If there are no useful bacteria then you will keep getting sick from harmful bacteria and this cycle will never end. I hate taking systemic antibiotics because while I feel great right as I reach the end of them about 3-5 days after not taking them my body starts to go nuts. I get all sorts of little infections from vaginal to acne to digestive upset.

I've had similar issues for the past 8 months or so. BV-ish symptoms pop up about halfway through my cycle. White discharge, stinging, pain, irritation. I've gone through repetitive yeast and BV treatments. Metronidazole gel for BV did clear it up, but lo and behold, it returned again during the next cycle at the same time - about two weeks or so before my period. I have relief during my period and about a week after.
I gave up on my regular gyno a few months ago because I was sick and tired of having Diflucan and Metrogel thrown at me every month. I started seeing a great vaginitis specialist. He tested me for yeast on two symptomatic occasions - negative. Also, no bacterial infections either and my pH is fine. This was after my regular gyno told me "Yeah, it looks like yeast." Right now I'm being treated with Estrace cream for low vaginal estrogen that's causing my skin to thin out down there and results in me being irritated by my own normal discharge. I'm 25 and using cream that menopausal women use... great!
Definitely push your doctor to give you the attention and treatment you deserve, not what is convenient for them. If they don't give it to you, find another one.
Also, try looking up something called "cytolytic vaginosis." It's not really recognized by regular gynos, but my specialist brought it up as a cause of recurrent symptoms too.Comment
