Unusual discharge has me concerned. Any ideas?

First of all, let me say hello, as I am new here

I'm not really sure where to start here, so I will try to include as much info as I can. About a week ago, I started noticing a brownish discharge (which I don't usually see until the first day of my period). Since then it's been on and off, some days it is lighter both in the flow of it and the color. This morning it was so dark it almost looked black. Now, it almost looks as though I'm starting my period (2 days early).

I have been on the same birth control pill for 2 1/2 years, and have been on birth control nearly 5 years (with about a six month break a few years ago). I am also on Nexium. I haven't missed a birth control pill in a very long time, and I haven't been sick recently. I did miss almost a week of Nexium a few days before this started due to complications with the pharmacy. I was stressed right before this point as well, due to some issues within my household. I don't know if it makes a difference or not, but I am sexually active and have been, with the same partner, for over 3 years.

The reason this is unusual for me is because I normally get my period on the night of my 4th placebo pill, and as I said, I normally don't see any discharge until then - and I have never had any as dark as I saw this morning. Could this be something serious that I should have checked out, or could it just be a random abnormal month? Thank you so much in advance for any help

I think your body is just trying to rid of all the "old" stuff and is a bit early that's all, if we all had normal periods, even better (no periods), we'd be happy.

If it stops when you get your period and the next is normal, sounds okay to me, if not, go and see your Doctor and explain as you have here.

      lol, isn't that the truth

Thank you for your response, that is kind of what I was thinking. I thought maybe some of the stress from around that time might've pushed it along also. It's been such a long time since anything different happened, I guess I just had one of those freak-out moments. I'd pretty much planned on doing as you've said since this is the first time.

Thanks again, my mind is a bit more at ease
