    MY health issue.. help*

    women's health
    « Result #5 on Nov 20, 2009, 11:50pm »

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am a female who has odd periods.. right now. I am in my early 20's and am white and is 5' 4.

    • I had been... experiencing weight gain

      heavy periods that are continuous

I have extra bleeding after periods

I am anemic when I loose blood during cycles

I grow very tired before and after periods

aches and pains are not so much the issue though

I do break out through my arms and chest

I have been dealing with this ever since I regulated my periods since I was 16 yrs old

since also being regulated, I started getting acme break outs in places other then my face

I sleep very often throughout my cycle and I don't get to enjoy the things most women do

It raises my stress and anxiety levels from where they already bad for my known anxieties alone

I do not wish to have kids when I grow up due to mild to extreme anxieties and stress, including impatience

I have been praying for better health and a desire to enjoy activities without becoming prolonged to the effects of these monthly cycles

taking iron supplements used to work for me some to help with these issues, but now it cease to work as well

I have had issues similar before and I am getting very worried again cause this can keep happening repeatedly over a stretch of a few yrs apart, such as 5 to 6 yrs

Can someone also tell me how long one can spend on BC pills for theropy to control this iron deficiency bleeding problem? It just to bad since this past year, when I was 16, I was temporarly regulated with one and I was fine then on afterwards. But now, it's different, it started affecting my health. :/

    ..help here*

Can you suggest to me what to do and maybe help me as to how I may could handle or deal with it besides consulting a doctor? ..which I did..lol

I was temporarly regulated with one
Do you recall the name of that particular birth control?

It may be that you changed over to an alternative one that isn't the best one for you...

It appears that at some point it was working better for you.

I was never on anything .. that is why I had these issues, so why ask. I recall nothing, my parents were in total control, I had no idea what I was taking when I was 16.
It only lasted 3 months and that's it. I taken nothing since then and uh, well, I am knowing "since I am an adult, 23" :/ Not considered a "kid" 16, which no ability to make life decisions, that is.

I think you mean't "that's why I asked", in the above statement.

However, if you mean't "so why ask?", because you said at some point you were regulated and because you are in your 20's so it's easy to assume you may be sexually active, consequently on a birth control.

I don't understand, you were never on birth control and recall nothing, your parents were in control? Nor, "I've taken nothing since then". Are you suggesting that maybe they did suggest birth control at that time and you can't recall taking them?

In any event... Birth Control does assist in regulating a period, it also assists in reducing the blood flow which therefore, assists with alot of your symptoms.

I would go again to your Doctor now that you are older and explain the above to him/her and I am sure that will be their suggestion.

I had the same problem at 16 and once on Birth Control it eased everything up.

I do believe also that the pimples are a result of "stress" and as you suffer from this, and anxiety you may need to discuss this as well.

There are natural ways to assist with reducing stress, deep breathing, meditation, yoga etc.. Which you might also like to try.

Thanks, I only restarted on some pills for regulated my cycles again, I am not sexually active, I am just trying to help myself. I was just mentioning that my periods were lasting a whole month that is, when I was "16 back then". I was regulating my periods for that time, that is all.

Now, my periods are heavy and caused all those symptoms. I took "no" pills since seven years after I was temporarly regulated and I was then at that time, happy and well.

When I said heavy, it was chunky and I could feel it flowing through me, what I strange sensation and I changed pads every 30 to 45 min. each day my period or cycles last which was approximately 5 to 6 days with extra bleeding after my cycles to clear it all up til the next cycle was due.

My symptoms were that of common iron anemia which I have had since I was a tiny baby, with a test indicating my color for iron deficency to be orange, a low signature of low iron. I was told that I got on high dose iron formulas to stay alive I assume. :/ I am now took since then, that it was inherited by my grand mother that had deceased before I was born, that had iron issues and stuff. o.o

So, any help is appreciated. Thanks

Hun, you shouldn't be going through this for so long.

I am still betting that if you tried Birth Control pills again, then you would bleed alot less and have so many less symptoms, be less stressed as well

When you lose that much blood on-going, you have to feel weak.. It's not good.

Please go back and speak to your Doctor.

Some other ladies might be able to share their experiences as well with you here, as it's not un-common so hang about

I know, that is what I understand, that is why I am here. I associate with other women about my common issue here.

I hope that this can help assure me to happiness..yet I am not the same.. grrr.. I need guidance, yes. This is true, so...

One say, long time ago, mom said that it was not healthy to "stop" periods. She said that God gave us periods and he created us that way. She thought I was prone to blood clots and the like, and I have thinned blood..I guess.. O.O I was only 16 when I asked about it. It was like, women must have or deserve to have periods cause God made us that way and it would be sinful to undo that and make ourselves unwell. I respect the creation part, but why suffer with that issue of bleeding to death. That is what happened to me at 23, that made me ill and lazy.

Why people?! Why parents say this to me? What a religious matter or health issues.. no idea.. :/

You need to talk to a doctor. Bleeding that much could mean you have a health problem that needs treated. If you still get anemia even after taking iron it could mean another set of health problems that need treated. You are very unlikely to have thin blood and clots. When the blood is thin it doesn't clot and you lose blood easy. A doctor should run a full cbc to check red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets (they clot blood and stop bleeding), and other things as well as iron. Then they will know if you have a genetic disorder or something else that needs treated and how to do it. You won't get tired anymore.

You can be on birth control as long as you want. I took it for probably 6 years since the start of highschool, stopped for one year, and then started it up again for another year. There's no direct health risk to skipping your period. Sometimes doctors do prescribe pills or other methods to use that way. They usually still make you have your period once or twice a year. Your periods help show if there is a health problem. If you skipped them all you'd never have seen these symptoms you are having and while you might feel better it doesn't mean it's stopping the problem. You might end up much sicker later if you don't try to find the cause instead of covering it up.

As for religious issues against stopping your period I can't help you with the reasons. I am not religious. I do not understand why some people think you need to have periods and it's even been shown that it's unhealthy to have your period so much. In the past without birth control women would have gotten pregnant which would stop their periods for more than 9months. If you are breastfeeding sometimes for another half a year after you give birth. Women frequently had multiple children then. With birth control and smaller families these days that doesn't happen as much and we end up having more periods in our lifetimes. Some people who strictly follow religion are even against all forms of birth control. Again I can't help you with the reasons. You have to decide for yourself what your beliefs are. Do you think you need to have periods or that you shouldn't go on birth control? You can't ask someone else. Then you are following their beliefs not yours.

                  Thanks for that...

Well, religion is hard to understand as it is for me..so?! :/

I think that a women as I was taught is to have a monthly period normally and bleed as much as the body is built to bleed. So, that is what I believe. If I bleed too much, that is just my problem, it should not be helped with BC pills, it seems unhealthy in the long-term run in my future. Why not find another way that is much healthier to resolving this issue. I think this topical idea needs to be explored a bit more, BC pills are expensive and can in fact harm health, yes, can kill sometimes also, not that you think it will right away. They can contribute to other health problems that may add to any problems that may still exist.

Okay, uh, whatever the reason, anemia should be treated in some other way that will agree with both religion as well as my personal self and my healthy body. I am still standing and think that this is sure to make more rational since then BC pills, I am not married and know that just taking them for no reason is stupid and thinking that it's going help my anemia is even more of a stupid choice.

Point one, taking BC pills for long-term is, even at high school time, is crazy, the body is still developing, my boobs were not developed yet, my mom said. I thought they were developed by 12th grade. She led me into some much confusion about myself. I didn't know from A-Z, which I think she was being over protective of me, then. She does not admit that, but I really see that she was dearly. I was not that unhealthy back then and had no existing problems to tell or I was being unable to talk about it, knowing that she will refuse to listen. It still bothers me, she might think no matter my age, I need to obey rules like that, even if my health's at state.

I think there are pills for every thing, and cutting off my wonderful ability to have children is a heart braking thought by BC pills even though getting off of them is easy and I can have children again. I think that other pills out there can possibly stop anemia, or even heal me of it, it can be stopped! Can't it?! Like all other problems and illnesses the world goes through, pills heal it. Not BC pills though, others besides that I mean.

Well, tell me if that is rational, cause I think this is a bit too over thought in the "wrong" direction. :P

What is your reasoning for all pill except BC being ok to take? I don't get that, sorry.
Have you taken an iron supplement?
