    Yeast Infection Complication: Help!

This is my first time posting, and I'm not sure if I'm in the right place, so bear with me.

I came down with my first yeast infection about 5 days ago. I went to the drug store and bought the 1-day Canesten treatment. Afterward, I noticed a large amount of swelling, tenderness, rawness and itching that lasted a few days after the infection itself seemed to be cleared. The most worrying part was some medium-to-heavy vaginal bleeding. These symptoms are still occurring. I went to a walk-in clinic to ensure I was not experiencing an allergic reaction to the Canesten. The doctor, without having taken a look or even asking many questions of me apart from what I told him, called in a prescription. I picked it up to find another single-dose treatment, this time oral, for the yeast infection. This seems strange to me, as I believe I had a reaction to the first one, and also believe the infection itself has been cleared up. What should I do?

I know this was rather long-winded, so thanks to anyone for reading and/or responding to my question

Full disclosure: The week before the infection I was on antibiotics for a chest infection, and these were likely the cause of the infection. Also, though this may have nothing to do with anything, I thought I should mention that I took a 'Plan B' pill ("morning after" pill) as well during the course of my antibiotics. It was my first time taking 'Plan B'.

The bleeding is most likely from the Plan B. It basically makes your period come within a week or so.

If you think the infection is gone, then I wouldn't take the other meds. Wait a week and see if your body returns to normal. In the mean time, stock up on yogurt and maybe drink a bit of apple cider vinegar to get your ph back to normal.

It might be all of the recent activities to your body. The antibiotics for a chest infection, then Canesten treatment and then of course the morning after pill(plan B) might have caused the irregular menstrual bleeding, some women may experience spotting or sometimes a early period. It is too much for our body to adjust to. Give your body few days of rest and then try the antibiotics. I have also learned sometimes it's the best to just get a second opinion and go into a walk in clinic and see what another doctor might tell you and prescribe you.

Let me know how it all goes,

      Kathy
