    How long does it take?

Following advie from on here, I went to the doctor who diagnosed me with BV.
Tomorrow is my last of a five day course, where I take one Metronidazole three times a day.
But I was wondering how long it takes for these pills to kick into action? I've noticed a slight improvement but not much, and it's getting me down considering I have to sit in school feeling very uncomfortable =/

    thanks

Did you get a DNA probe culture? The BV organisms need to be identified for you to be treated with the right antibiotic. Some organisms are resistant to Metronidazole. In my case, I had 3 different organisms and I required 3 different antibiotics. I also did many of the other holistic therapies listed on the large BV thread.

If it was the correct antibiotic, I think you would be a lot better by the last day of therapy...

No I didn't =/ she didn't take any swabs or anything, just asked me what my symptoms were then prescribed me my course of Metronidazole.
I mean it's not like it hasn't improved at all, the smell has pretty much gone but it's still dark and everything down there is still quite sore and itchy =/

It really surprises me that your doctor did not take swabs, and gave you a prescription to use Metronidazole. How can your doctor really know that it is a Bacterial Vaginosis diagnosis if she hasn't done swabs. It like if you asked a random person not a doctor. I am a bit confused with this. I do hope if it is bacterial vaginosis you have that it goes away after your prescribed medications. If you do not see much changes within your problem five days after your treatment I would go back and ask for correct analysis. Tell your doctor to take swabs. It's wrong to get diagnosis without proper analysis. Very strange in my opinion.

Good luck and I do hope it goes away
