How much do you tell?
My daughter is 11 and she just got her period. How much information do I give with new changes that are happening o her? Do I tell her everything since she is clueless about all the things that come along with your period? -

My daughter is 11 years old. We had this talk with her, and truthfully I don't know who was more embarassed me or her!! But my husband and I both talked to her about sex but I did the period thing (since obviously he doesn't know much about that area). But we did discuss it all since she was bringing home questions about the subject and taking the word from other 11 year olds. (Its kind of scarey the stuff they know already! And the facts that are not correct!)
Do you think she's ready for it all? If so I'd say talk about everything now. So she gets the real facts from you and not from some kid. You know your child best, but they are learning things so much faster now! I'd say get a head start on it now!
Good Luck! -
i remembered asking my parents this when i was like in 2nd grade! my mom was kind of hesitant when telling me about it, but at least i knew about it before i started learning in class. i think the first time they talked about sex ed was when i was in 5th grade. by then i had already had my period, so that's kind of late.
i've heard that kids are maturing faster these days, girls getting their periods earlier than many years ago, so schools are working this material in earlier as well. what good is it when the whole class of girls has already had their period, and then they start talking about it at school? i think it's better to be aware before that happens.Comment
