So for the past 6 weeks or so, I've noticed that I've been having a greenish yellow discharge. It started the morning after I had sex with my boyfriend. At first I thought it could only be Chlamydia or Gonorrhea. It was fun bringing it up and asking him if he's cheated, to which he denied and proved with negative results on an STD screen. So clearly those options are out. There is no itching, redness, swelling, sores, odor, etc. The only thing that I have noticed is more discharge than I'm used to. And it's not always the greenish color. Just as a precaution, thinking that it could be an infection, I started taking acidophilus capsules (as that's proven to cure any encounter with BV that I've had). It seemed to work... I took them for a few days and the greenish color went away. I stopped taking the acidophilus and now the color's back. I tried making and appointment with my gyno, but she's on maternity leave until further notice. Her replacement is a male, and I'm just a little uncomfortable with that. So I'm waiting until she returns to get it checked out (which should only been another week or two now). Everything that I've read online has indicated that green is never a good color.
Anyone have any ideas what it could be?

i agree with what you have read - green is never agood colour for discharge. it signifies infection, which needs to get sorted. I would definitly make an appointment with your gyno as soon as poss. if shes on maternity leave, it could be ages until shes back. (ive known people who have had nearly a year off maternity leave!) if your not comfortable with a guy gyno (which i totally understand as i would be freaked out ha!) then speak to a nurse at your GP centre. The will usually have a look for you and recommend you to a gynocologist.

You need to get it looked at though. sooner the better.

His STD test results are not good enough for your to rule out the possiblity of having something. Did you ever have sex with anyone besides him? Did you ever not use a condom? Sometimes things like chlymida can be symptomless for months , even YEARS... then rear their ugly head at a later date.

Also when did he have that std test done? Why does he carry results around with him and BAM whip em' out when questioned? If he's had sex with even only ONE other person (including you) since that test was taken... those results aren't worth the ink they are typed in.

And to add PLEASE go get tested, male gyno, female gyno, free clinic... doesn't matter. Green discharge is an indication of an infection and you are going to need treatment, whether its sexually related or just a yeast infection gone nuts... you won't get any better without seeing a doctor.

If it is, however, an std, if you wait until you have physical pain... which is usually when pelvic inflammatory disease develops (after an std has gone untreated) it can lead to infertility, scarring of your fallopian tubes... etc.

Just go see the gyno -- and you will feel better mentally and physically

I finally went to see my gyno. And much to my surprise, there's nothing wrong. Or so she said. Tests for bacterial infections, yeast, chlamydia, gonorrhea, etc, all negative. She said that discharge can change color at times and it's completely normal. But I'm not convinced. I know she has a medical degree and I don't... BUT this isn't normal. Out of no where discharge is pouring out much more than normal and I KNOW green isn't a good color.
So if it's not any of the above, any suggestions about what it might be?
And if it is, is there a way for the tests to come out negative anyway?

Trich often has copious amounts of green discharge so it might be worth getting her to check for that. They take a swab and look for the parasite under a microscope so it's a quick test. Lots of green discharge isn't a good sign and needs sorting out. Is there any odour?
