    Missed period

Last monday i went to the doctor and i had bronchitis and they gave me amoxicillin 500 and Methylprednisolone. I read that you could have problems if you take your birth control while taking the Methylprednisolone. So i havent been taking it.. and from my amoxicillin i got a yeast infection. and im taking medicine for that now. I was suppose to start my period tuesday at least that is when it usually starts cause i would of been on the last week of my pill packet. and i have not started it. do you think that the medicine caused me to miss a period? And should i start taking my birth control now or wait till i get over the yeast infection?

Hey sweets. I do know, from what I've been told by some doctors and what they don't bother to mention, is that taking antibiotics can interact with your birth control causing it to be ineffective.....Is that an antibiotic you are taking?

All different reasons for a missed period, could be the sickness, antibiotics, etc. With that said, if you have a reason to think you may be pregnant, take a test. If it is negative, continue taking your BC pills even if you are still sick. If you stop taking them until you are better, then you have to use backup contraception for a month.

There are many potential causes of missing periods, including illness, antibiotic use, etc. Take a pregnancy test, then, if you have a reason to believe you might be pregnant. Even if you are still ill, take your BC pills if the test is negative. You must use backup contraception for a month if you stop taking them until you feel better.
