Missing periods since stopping bc pill

I stopped the birth control pill 2 months ago and have not had a period since. My doctor warned me that my periods may be "irregular" but he never mentioned missing them all together. I took a pregnancy test just to be safe and it was negative. Is this normal? I was on the pill for a very long time so I don't even remember my menstrual cycle prior.

Pills can put your cycle out of whack. If that is the case, you'd miss some of your expected dates of "arrival". It is also possible to miss even until 3 months of menstruation even if you are not pregnant, but has irregular cycle. It happened to me once (I was even a virgin then).

Go see a GYN and be checked. There are a lot of factors to rule out, and the sooner, the better.

    Take care.

Things can get really strange coming off the pill. I would keep a log on your calendar - chart mood swings, bloatedness, appetite changes etc. There are a number of things to think about. You have been giving your body synthetic hormones and now have stopped cold turkey - pay attention to the details. I came off BC after 20 years and OMG!! I am glad I came off of the BC - but no one prepared for for the what happened.

My sister didn't get her period fo like 4 months after stopping the pill. I think it is kind of normal for it to be crazy out of wack at first...

Hi i was in the same situation as you are in now. Im 25 yrs old and i was on the bc pill for 7 yrs. I decided to stop last year in June. Once i stopped the bc pill i had one withdrawl bleed in July. I went to the doc in Oct to see if something was wrong with me since i was not getting my period. I even thought that i was pregnant! My doc just gave me a pregnancy test and prescribed me Provera to induce a period and sent me on my way. I tried everything to bring on my period. I tried herbs like Maca Root, Vitex, Red Raspberry Leaf Tea, and i changed my diet. Nothing worked, i just wasted a ton of money. I did a ton of research on goggle and i was thinking i had pcos or hormonal imbalance. I wish that i would have never got in bc pill in the first place. The docs never tell u that once coming off there is a chance that u can have post pill ammenorhea. It took me eight months to get my period back. I just got it back last month. Its more different than it was when i was on the bc pill. Its more like it was before i got on the bc pill. So it just takes time. Your body some time to start back making the hormones naturally. Im now using ovulation tests to kind of get used to my new cycle since its a whole lot different than when i was on the pill. Just be patient af will show up soon. Good luck.
