is it possible to delay period?

I have a special out of town event this weekend. My period should have, according to my birth control pills, started on this past Sunday and then would have been done by my trip this weekend. However, today is Tuesday and it still has not started. I have had some of the mild cramping and backache that normally precedes my period. I would like to hold my cycle off until next week if it is at all possible. Is there anything I can do to delay it for a week? I am now in my placebo pills for the month so those aren't doing anything, of course. Would starting next month's pills early do anything? Please give me any insight. Thanks.

    delaying period

I had this same question for my doctor...he suggested to continue taking the pill until after my holiday, that it wouldn't be harmful. I did, it worked, and all returned to normal as soon as I stopped taking the pill the following month.

Hello ladies, I started the new pack for the new month to delay my period and now I want to know how to get back on track. Do I still take the pill?? I have been having cramps for 2 weeks now and still no period. I delayed it for this past weekend because it was my anniversary but now I want to get back on track. Please help!!!
