    Yeast Infection

I went to my doctor because I have had intense burning and itching for a few weeks. He said I had a yeast infection and that it was getting better, so I just need to buy some meds for it. Thats fine, but I have a few questions that he didnt really clear up for me. There is some swelling from the infection around the outside of the vagina. Would the swelling cause numbness? Cuz I dont really have a lot of feeling down there right now. Will the feeling come back once the swelling goes down? Also, I am very dry down there. Is this from the infection too? The dry skin seems to be sloughing off. Is this just an infection?

Yeah, those are all yeast infection symptoms - the swelling, numbness, dryness, itching, burning, etc. The feeling should come back once the swelling goes down and the meds do their job. And sometimes yeast infections can even cause "dandruff" down there, so that is probably what the dry skin is. It sounds like you have a bad one! Hope that gets better soon!

Along with the meds your doctor has prescribed, you can also do a lot of stuff on your own to get rid of the infection faster. Eat lots of yogurt, garlic and even asparagus, as they are all good for yeast infections and kill the bad bacteria. Soak in warm baking soda baths as well.

I agree with Sarah yogurt is very good and occasionally to prevent it from comming back sleep without undergarments.
