It's now 2 January of the new year, and I still have this little bump. I wasn't able to take care of it for some time due to family parties and a lot of holiday goings-on.

It is small now, and I can sort of wiggle it, but it is still there. I am still concerned about it being some sort of tumour, but if that were the case it would not have gotten smaller, am I correct?

I am still unsure of what to do. I plan on informing my mother about the situation, but is there any other advice anyone can offer?

A tumor will grow, a cyst may grow as well but it will be much slower. Cysts are no big deal if you want to go to the doctor that is fine. Thinking it is a cancerous tumor is not going to help your situation. If you want your mother to know just say you think you have a harmless cyst, saying it is harmless implies to her that you are not going to get concerned and paranoid that it is a cancerous tumor, a doctor can remove a harmless cyst and just let you know that everything is fine.
There are those who believe that dictionaries should not merely reflect the times but also protect English from the mindless assaults of the trendy.
