    17 and No Period

    Hi,

I'm 17 years old now and I still haven't had my period. I've had a few blood tests and they performed an ultrasound on me. All I know is everything seemed to be fine and that I do have a lining in my uterus at the moment.

So my doctor gave me Yasmin pills to take for 3 months. He seemed to assume that there was no question that my period would start. But it didn't and so he gave me more pills for another 3 months. I'm at the end of 2 months and still no period. Do you guys have any idea what might be wrong with me?

I am developed in other areas. I don't have any type of eating disorder. I do have hirsutism, which was what led me to believe that I might have a hormonal imbalance but they did check my testosterone levels and it seemed fine.

Any suggestions or thoughts would be very helpful. Thank you.

hirsutism you need to be checked for PCOS signs, hirsutism is one of the classic signs. you may take longer to get a period and go years to months without them and PCOS can cause a lot of other symptoms. Have your FSH and androgens tested and have your insulin tested, thyroid and adrenal tested. Possible endocrine disorder. I have seen PCOS in overweight and thin people so it can affect anyone, and you dont have to have every single text book sign to have it! Or your just late and maybe the pills will kick in! Its hard to tell this could just take you time and a process to figure out.

      Best of Luck!

        Hey! Thanks very much.
I'm pretty sure they checked a lot of those hormones but I'm not sure. To be honest, my doctor has been suspiciously optimistic. We'll see. Thanks for the advice.
