Can anyone on here help. I'm so tired and doctors don't seem to listen. For the past year everytime I start my period it starts normally, 1st day pain in lower tummy and back then the pain goes from there and i end up with very bad pain in uretha and vagina. mostly the pain is in urethra and very very bad. sharp stabbing pain, hurts to pee but mostly its the constant pain down there that bothers me. Been awake for 24hrs now, co-codamol does nothing. I only get this pain during in my period. Doctors seem to ignore me when i tell them. dont know what to do and im worried something is really wrong.

Could be infection related if it hurts to pee. Antibiotics can help with infections and a better painkiller can help with the pain. If there is no infection then doctors cannot exactly do much except for maybe some exams of your vagina. Try some heating pads or a hot water bottle on your stomach when the cramping begins.

What kind of doctor are you seeing? A gyno? Maybe try a urologist instead. Maybe it could have something to do with swelling while on your period - our bodies retain water during that time.
Sadly, you would not be the first woman who was ignored or tut-tutted at complaints of period pain. It's your right to look for a doctor who listens: one who knows that what you're going through isn't "normal." It takes time and money to seek out that kind of doctor, but it's worth it in the end.

I've had urine tests done in past, they find nothing, had pelvic exams (three) all normal, smear test normal, hormones all normal except for too much progesterone. going to go back to doctor hopefully today so they can see how much pain i am in

These are often over looked: What about endometriosis, ovary cyst, or Interstitial cystitis (if your peeing a lot a bit like a UTI but not a UTI), Urethral syndrome, Urethritis. For the to much progesterone birth control will help that. Might have to get a laproscopy and transvaginal xray as well a Cystoscopy to get down to this.

Just want to say being that its been going on for a year.. and it starts with your period and its a sharp shooting pain sounds a lot like endometriosis but thats just my best guess here and you would have to get a laproscopy for it cause thats the only way to see it. Cause really the Urethra and Urethritis they would of found upon pelvic exam and most issues and the cyst or fibroids on a transvaginal or ultrasound xray. Interstital cystitis if your peeing really often, but being that its during your period and even the pain meds isnt helping just want to say sounds classic endo could be that the endo is affecting your uretha but I'm not a doctor, endo is a tough disease to figure out but one that can be worked through with life long treatment. I hope you find the problem!
