I have a small, somewhat hard spot on my labia minor near my clitoris. I have had it for ten+ years. I am now 26. It is not painful unless pressure is applied and it hasn’t changed as far as I can tell. I have asked 5 different doctors about it over the years and none have seemed concerned. None have offered any suggestions on what it might be. They have verified it is not related to an STD, also it appeared before I was sexually active. Mostly they have suggested using different creams to see how it reacts but the side effects of these creams always include long term numbing of the area. I am too nervous to use them due to the proximity to the clitoris. The spot is just embarrassing more than anything else, not painful.

The doctor I saw most recently wants to biopsy it. I think she is considering doing a punch biopsy and said it would not need stitches. I am really nervous that it will cause long term problems with my sensitivity in the area and also that it will be very difficult to keep it from getting infected.

Has anyone had a procedure like this done in this area? What can I expect as far as recovery and side effects?

I have not had this exact procedure, but I did have a cyst in the area that I had to have drained.

Uncomfortable, yes, but nothing really to worry about, I think. My recovery was long, but that was because I had a drain in the cyst for 2 weeks, but after the drain was removed it was only a matter of days.

I think you need to address your questions to the doctor. I doubt the risk of infection there is higher than it would be elsewhere.
