20 years old and still have not been to the Gynocologist..Bad?
Alright so I am 20 years old and sexual active since 16 and have not been to the gynocologist. Is this bad? I am just really uncomfortable with going. I have heard that it hurts and heard that some people get turned on. I would feel uncomfortable both ways. All I can think about is that it will hurt really bad or that I will get turned on and it will be embarrasing. Also what all do they do at the appointments? thanks girls

Hun having sex and going to the gyno goes hand-in-hand. If you don't want to go the gyno then stop having sex.
Period. Because you could get an STD or some other kind of issue, leave it untreated because you're afraid of the doctor, and then put your health in danger down the road. And for what? Because you were nervous about a tiny 15 minute appointment? Get what I'm saying?
I have NEVER heard of a woman getting turned on at a gyno appointment. Who told you that? That's just silly. They don't fondle your clitoris. They check your cervix, see if your vagina looks alright, etc.
It can be uncomfortable because typically they prop your legs up and stuff like that, but it's no biggie and nothing to be embarrassed about. Gynos have seen LOTS OF VAGINAS, and yours won't be any different.
You should go once a year. It can save your life. -
Well if you've been smart about things and using condoms it's not an absolutely horrid thing to have not been to a gyno yet. It would be a very good idea to go though. Pap smears can save you from cancer and never being able to have children or sometimes having so much removed that it even impacts the pleasure from sex. STD testing should be done preferably between every partner but at least between actual dating relationships. Otherwise you could give something to someone else that you didn't know you had. Some illnesses are getting harder and harder to treat because of antibiotic resistance so stopping their spread as quickly as possible and treating them before they become severe is very important.
It really isn't that painful. They do stretch the vagina open a small amount but if you are already having sex it's already been stretched that much so it shouldn't be anymore uncomfortable than that. Sometimes there is a slight bit of cramping when they take a sample off the cervix but it's far weaker than period cramps and over within seconds. Occasionally someone has a disorder or they are a virgin with a very tight vagina when they go see the gyno for their first pap smears and it causes a lot of pain to stretch things for the first time. That's where some of the pain stories come from. Personally I'd already stuck plenty of toys up there so I didn't even notice.Comment
