NOW what is it up to?

Here's the skivy. I'm about to turn 40, I've been menstruating since I was ten, never had kids (in fact have never had intercourse--but that's not the issue here), never had a gynecological exam, and also for the most part haven't had any problems. Every 28 days like an annoying Jack in the box.

In July 2010 I had something like a period for an entire month. The flow varied from flooding to almost nothing, and there was no real pain and discomfort.

As I'm typing this, I'm closing in on another solid month of menstrual activity. This time it's been mostly negligible, but still aggravating.

My physician has told me (as if the thought hadn't crossed my mind) that I could be coming into the end of my fertile years, especially as I never had a child. I realize that sooner or later (I'd prefer later) I'll have to cave on the gynecologist issue, but that's not the issue right now.

I guess I only have two questions. What the heck is going on, and is this happening to anyone else?

Hi EJ. My first thought is to agree with your physician... Seems like there's a bit of a hormonal imbalance starting to happen, which sounds like a viable precursor to menopause. I think a lot of our posters will be able to share personal experiences, so if all I can do is *BUMP* this thread then so be it.

Is there any particular reason you've been avoiding seeing a gyno? I think you'd get some answers pretty quickly if you did.

"Is there any particular reason you've been avoiding seeing a gyno?"
Hmmmm, if she's anything like me, she doesn't want anyone (or anything) going up there!!! I've never had intercourse or had anything (not even myself) go up there....so the thought of someone ELSE going up there is just a discomforting thought.

I would go and see someone about it. But yes the thought of something going up there too is painful in fact it does hurt and I have had intercourse once but even that was painful due to something I have no idea is wrong with me but far too embarrassed to ask

But I would maybe mention it to your GP and maybe they can have an idea of what it is with just you telling them what is going on and they dont have to look or check up there to see what it could be and they could give you something for it. I know what you mean though talking to a GP about that and you think houw far can I go without her/him wanting to stick me on the bed and take my pants off to check things out eeerrr I avoid it too. But sometimes it is for the best all the best.

I may be pretty new around here, but I'm pretty sure that my new motto will be "When in doubt, see a gynecologist." It's a sucky thing to do. I've never had sex and I'm not into masturbation, so you can bet it's a tight fit for my doctor to get up in there. It's uncomfortable and awkward, but find a doctor you think you can trust and see that person if ever something alarming happens in your pants.
