Period pain is a nightmare :(

I have noticed the last four or five periods I have been in agony with pain, in the back and front and knees also. My ovaries are swollen so bad it hurts just to touch them lightly, Ive been getting mild fevers and the pain is so bad I am on the verge of vomiting with it.
I decided I had had enough of this and my previous period before the one I just had I decided to take myself to the doctor and tell her about it. She gave me these pills called ponstan and told me it will ease the pain off for me and I will feel better.
I took them this period and the first day I was in horrible pain in the morning and started to ease when I took my second dose at lunch time and thought it was all going great even though my ovaries were sore and swollen to touch.
Well the second day I woke in the night in complete agony that I was crying, had a sleep and got up in the morning to take my ponstan had to have food with it but felt sick from the pain I couldnt eat so had to make myself do that.
It didnt really kick in and I couldnt bare the pain I was curled up crying in pain and had to wait till lunch time to take the second dose and it started to ease a little but the ill feeling was still there and I was very tired and run down all day.
The period pain came back on the third day and I just couldnt take this anymore I went back to the doctor and she put me on the pill and so Ive started that just recently so hopefully with the pill my period pain will ease off alot.

Has anyone else had this? so bad that they are in agony over it? it scares me to get it now because of the pain I have to face and my periods never use to be this bad

Hello! I'd like to ask your age, as it might help in figuring it out. Ever since I started menstruating at age 10, I had intensely painful periods much like you're describing, only one of my ovaries was swollen-feeling. After going through four years of this, my mom took me to her gyno and she said that it was normal for young women to have this and that the pain is from ovarian cysts. Usually they're not much of anything to worry about, as terrible as it is to deal with them. She put me on birth control to regulate my cycle and to help control the cysts. For about four years, the treatment has worked wonderfully, and many women have found comfort from birth control. I suggest you see a "lady doctor" as soon as you can possibly make an appointment.

I am 25 yrs old and I do have a lady doctor who is still youngish so she would have hers too so she is fresh to know what it feels like.
She just put me on the pill on Tuesday and she said that I should start to feel better soon and if any problems to come back and see her.

I remember getting bad pain too when I was young its prob worse now though than back then and yes I know its normal for 11 or 12 yr olds who just start to have pains.

But thanks for your reply fingers crossed aye.
