    PCOD woes

    Hi Friends,

I am a chronic PCOD sufferer. I am taking treatment for this disorder for the past 5-6 years now. When I am regular with my medicines, everything is OK but I cant take them for my entire life.

    Is there any permanent treatment?

    Please help

I don't think there is. I was told in Oct of 09 that I have PCOS. A suggestion, if your overweight (which I am \= ) then I'd say lose some weight. IT can definitely help with any infertility issues. I'm not sure if it will help with the cysts themselves or not.

      Thanx for replying,

My doctor prescribed me Metformin. When I take Metformin, I tend to lose weight rapidly, but I can't take this medcine forever. Also, she gives me progesterone which I presume is a steroid. I am really scared, these steroids might have long term damaging effects on my health

They put me on Metformin and Cabergoline when me and my ex husband were together, because we were trying for a baby. But when he left me, I stopped taking it. I only took it for three months maybe. But now I'm married again, but we're not trying. Progesterone is something your body is supposed to produce naturally (I just took a human biology class and we covered the endocrine glands lol). I'm having my first official infertility appointment on Tuesday, and the doctor I go to has talked about Clomid (she's my OB and probably will be my infertility doctor also). Even though we're not trying, we're not preventing it. I'm just scared of getting Clomid crazy.

You might want to get your testosterone level checked. I get hair under my chin and I have to shave every day.... And for the past year or so my periods have been regular which is weird.

I don't know of any in India... But you might want to see an Endocrinologist if possible.
