Could an Ovarian Cyst cause Upper Abdo. Pain???

    Hey everyone!
I'm not at all too concerned that something serious is wrong with me, but here's what's been going on.

I've always been able to feel when I ovulate, from just a twinge to a lot of pain, my periods have been regular and on time(except last time, just 5 days late tho) and have always had mild to severe cramping on 1st and 2nd day of period. Had a lot of periods where I've almost passed out from pain(which is most likely a cyst that ruptured) hasn't happend in awhile though(past six months-ish).
And for the past 4 months have had very tender to the touch lower(belly button down) abdomen during period. I've heard that can be normal.

Anyway, I have been dealing with constant upper abdomen pain for the past three days.
Got my period on Sunday(mild cramping) and on Tuesday I woke up with the upper abdo pain. Hasn't gone away, its a bit less painful today, but just a bit. Gets worse when I walk or sit, but its constantly there.
The pain is from my stomach, surrounds the belly button(like a donut :P) and is worse on the left side and sometimes feel like it travels into my back under the bra line close to the spine.
At first I thought it was just trapped wind(gas) cause I know its painful, but its been constant for three days straight. Nothing seems to help, burping, passing gas, going to the bathroom(which is normal) stretching, sitting certain ways, massasing tummy. My stomach is painful to touch, very sharp feeling.
So, without having relief the past three days I'm thinking its not trapped wind, but I do think I have a cyst on my left ovary(slightly painful there, esp. when sitting.) So I'm wondering, could it, the cyst, be causing my UPPER abdomen pain? It sounds weird, but I've heard that sometimes the cause of pain isn't necessarily right where it hurts.

So thoughts? Am I crazy!?!? ;-) Just a theory, I'm not saying that is IS the cause of my abdo pain.

If the pain doesn't lessen by tomorrow I'm going to call the Drs, but like I said its not SO painful I can't get through the day. I'll occasionaly gasp, or say Ow! when I move or take a deep breath, cause it was a more painful twinge, but overall its a 5 on a 10 scale constantly.

Thanks for taking the time to read! :-D

Could be ovarian cyst. But I would get it checked out, because abdo pain can mean many different things (gall bladder, appendix, heart attack, cyst).

I get cysts constantly, so now know what they feel like. But depending on which side its on, sometimes it gives same "symptoms" as an acute appendicitis attack. Mine usually only last 12-24 hours, and they go away. If the pain is ever more than that, I always go to the ER. Also, my pain is always a dull ache, but gets worse if I have just eaten or have to pee. Its better when I curl up in the fetal position. Worse when I am upright.

I would get it looked at, as it could be anything. But at least if its a cyst they can do an ultrasound and figure out if that's what it is. I ended up finding out about my cysts because I was having severe bouts of abdo pain -- initially they thought it was a GI bleed (because my blood pressure and pulse are very low), then thought it was my appendix, then gall bladder --- ended up taking a few months to "spot" a cyst.

Cysts can be an issue if they get too big. Mine usually get to a point, then they just go away. But sometimes they do need to be surgically removed.

Cysts can be "minor" but they can also be very serious depending upon where they are, what type of cyst they are, how large they are, and whether or not they rupture. A simple ultrasound can check for this. Don't put it off, get yourself checked out so you can rule out anything serious.

I have had small cysts before. They usually begin to cause me pain during the time I would normally ovulate and cease once I start my period.
