    Irregular Periods after BC

I was put on Ortho Evra, started having bad side effects so I stopped immediately. I was only on the patch for maybe 2 weeks. I dont think I ever made it to the third patch. I got my period a few days after I took of the patch. The next month I was supposed to start on the 10th, and when the 10th came around.. no period. I took a pregnancy test just to make sure I WASNT pregnant. Im always on time on my periods. They are practically like clock work. It came back negative and then I got my period 5 days later, on the 15th. Assuming I'd have it the next month on the same day, I waited till the 15th. No period. Figured it was going to come 5 days late like it did last time. I waited till the 20th (yesterday) and nothing. I havent taken a pregnancy test yet to make sure I'm not pregnant. We've been using condoms though. Is this normal? I was only on the birth control for 2 weeks and ever since then my periods have been way different and not on time like they normally have. I'm not sure if I should take a test or not, or just wait to see if I'll get my period. Anyone else have this problem before?

Any birth control can make you spot, hence the period after only 2 weeks on the pill. It is also the case that any birth control will take awhile for your body to get used to so it is actually expected for a woman to be spotting at some point and possibly have a later or earlier period in her first month especially. Birth control does not always start syncing your body right away. Coming off the birth control so soon while your body was just getting used to seeing it there means your body will now how to take an unknown amount of time to readjust. Could be next period everything is back to normal or it could be several months.

I'm just not sure if I should wait it out and see if I will get my period eventually, or sit here freaking out at the slight possibility of getting pregnant again. I didnt think that just two weeks of being on the patch would effect me THIS much, even after all this time of me being off. Thought my body wouldve gotten over it all now.

It can take much longer than 2 weeks for your body to become used to birth control (it is by no means instant for your body to get used to), and even then you can still spot irregularly for several months. It is just the sign that your body is getting used to seeing the birth control. In time your body will become used to seeing it there and straighten the timing of periods out to a much more regular cycle. Until then it is quite possible to continue spotting at random times, each spotting incident however does not mean you are pregnant. A woman not on birth control will spot as well, it is just something that happens, as well as not have a perfectly timed period every single month. Unless a period is missed for an extended amount of time (ie. completely skip a period and then some) there is a very slim chance of pregnancy if a woman has been practicing safe sex during that time.

You will of course eventually get your period, when that will be is up in the air. All you can do is wait. If you want to start using birth control again you will need to wait until you do get your period again and are used to that routine again instead of going back and forth between using birth control and stopping. That stop and go method will wreak complete havoc on your body.

It took my body nearly a year to become normal after I was on birth control for 6 months, I think you will regulate soon enough. If your worried take a test just to put your mind at rest.
