    laparoscopy/endomitriosis

so i had a laparoscopy and endo removal on thursday
    and it hurts. a lot.

im kind of worried since the doctors assured me that it would only be 'mild discomfort'
and im sorry but at no point has it ever resembled that
so im not sure i believe their 'two - three days recovery time' thing either

has anyone had this done? and how long does it actually take to recover?
and what are the 'side effects'?

sorry i feel kind of stupid for asking and for believing the doctors to begin with...
'so why care for these petty obsessions? your designer heart still beats with common blood. and what if you could have genetic perfection? would you change who you are if you could?'

Sticking an apparatus in you and scraping things is going to hurt. Doctors say "mild discomfort" because they drug you up and a lot of people can either handle pain well or they truly do experience little pain. It can take just a few days to recover but everyone is different. The rough pain or discomfort is usually in that initial recovery which is the main part the doctors are talking about. Anytime after that is usually residual discomfort due to the actual fact that you had the procedure. Simply take some pain medications and rest. Having a procedure such as this is not going to have a set plan for recovery, there is no way to say "yes after 2 days you will be 100% and have no pain you will be up and about and feeling awesome just give it 2 days"....does not work like that with any procedure, it is based on relative recoveries of other patients and the chance that everyone will experience the recovery differently. However if the pain is debilitating (as in bed ridden, cannot stand up, or go to work etc.) then you should speak with a doctor, if it is something that is helped with a simple Tylenol or Advil then maybe hold off for a bit.
There are those who believe that dictionaries should not merely reflect the times but also protect English from the mindless assaults of the trendy.

i agree with itsasecret, the doctor may tell you it's a short recovery phase & you will only experience mild discomfort, but everyone's pain threshold is different... you have to realize you just had a major surgery: it is 100% normal to not feel "like yourself" yet. it took me well over a week to feel comfortable doing the most minimal of tasks (walking up & down stairs, etc.). i too experienced pain well after the expected "recovery period" and my doctor assured me that can be expected as long as there is no heavy, abnormal bleeding or ureter/colon symptoms (which can signal a surgical error). what stage endo are you? i'm sure that could also play a big part in how you're feeling. if it was a stage III or higher, there was a lot more involved in removal which could cause your body to take a longer time to heal.

Everyone's body is different. Everyone handles pain different. If you suspect something is wrong call the doctor. You know your body.
