    Please help me- vaginal itch/burn?

Hello. Ok, will try to make this short since I've never been more embarrassed in my life.

I'm 19, 5'1, 125 lbs, of good health, eat organic, have never had any sexual relations at all.

Three or four days ago I got an itch right at the entrance of my vagina, (near the bottom/anus) I assumed it was because I shaved with soap near the end of my period, nicked myself, and soap/bacteria/blood got into it, therefore irratating it. I used a mirror and looked, outside is fine, but inside it seems redder than normal and feels inflamed and dry. I washed with warm water after using the washroom, patted with tissue carefully, and wore cotton panties. There's no discharge, change in urine (feels 'hot' when I go, tho) no odor, or anything out of the ordinary save for the redness and slight itch which comes a few times a day and makes me want to scratch badly, which I'm trying not to do, and instead pour cool water for relief. Also I'm feeling very dry, usually I'm well-lubricated, especially after my period.

Periods are regular, I take Naproxen (once a month, 550mg) for a severe pain in my leg (due to inflammation of organs, said the doc)

I have no doctor or health benefits, all that red tape, and cannot for the life of me discuss this with anybody I know.

Please help me, I'm going nuts with worry over what it could be. I can't recall eating/drinking/doing anything odd prior to this other than the razor-soap-period fiasco. I don't know what started it but it has to end or...or something. Is there any creme or product I could easily buy from a pharmacy or wal-mart (money is no object!) to soothe it down there? Anything? Any advice?? I have no idea what to do, nothing like this has ever happened to me before.

    Thank you in advance,
    Kayrene

Sounds like something similar to what I have just experienced. I, like you, wasn't experiencing anything other than just itchy irritation and was trying to let it play out it's course before I spent any money going to the doctor.

Finally, I got some hydrocortisone cream, some female anti-itch cream, and some baby powder. I applied the creams, sprinkled the powder in my undies and wow.......almost instant relief. That same night, I poured some baking soda in my water and took a sit down bath. I'm not having to use the cream multiple times a day, once is sufficient. And as of now I could probably get by with not using it at all I'm just giving myself a couple days.

I'm due for my annual exam soon so I'll bring this up with my doc... but from what I can tell, it was an allergic reaction to something. You can also (aside from yeast infections) get bacterial infections in that area. In that case you'd need antibiotics.
