    Am I in perimenopause?

Hi guys, I'm new here and am enjoying this forum and community a lot! I have a question though and I'll write a brief write up. I am a forty year-old married mother of two. I started my periods at around 15 and I have always had a thin build, currently 130 pounds 5'5", and I used to do gymnastics. I have been a worrying person since I could remember and what worried me the most for three years was thinking that my essential tremor was Parkinson's disease after my mother was misdiagnosed with Parkinson's in Bulgaria. That was from 2005 until 2008. My periods were ok but I was noticing irregularities at the time, the period was either too long, too short, skipped a month, or was very heavy or too light. Since I found out my mother was misdiagnosed I quite worrying but my husband had started his own business which was heavy work and I was constantly worrying about politics and reading the news like an addict, up until a couple of months ago when I stopped following them altogether that is.
My period was last normal in June of 2011 and then it didn't come until September. Since then I haven't had a period at all. It's been bad for several years and has been especially irregular since 2009 but I think it was maybe because of the politics and all the stress it caused me. I don't know what to do with myself. I used to have hot flashes at night and when I woke up but my reasoning is that they were more panic attacks than perimenopause caused hot flashes and they have stopped now and I sleep fine. I am really just asking if it is possible I can get my periods back and am wondering if all these irregularities are because of my stress. And if it is stress did I bring upon myself early perimenopause, that maybe started when I was 35.
I'm sorry for the long read but I just want some opinions and maybe hope that my period can come again. Thank you.

Based on what you have described, including Hot Flashes, it's more than possible that you are perimenopausal and that the stress is adding to it.

Panic attacks I suspect you also suffer from... You have to get your stress under control.

As we are all individual, I strongly urge you to seek Professional advice, have your blood taken so that the Doctor can confirm and diagnose and treat you..

    Welcome to the Forum.

Hi there! From what I'm reading I believe most of your irregularities are stress related and that you should lower your stress levels to get back your periods. To answer your question intense stress can lead to early perimenopause but it can be reversed. That sounds horrible about the Parkinson's scare and your mothers misdiagnoses. At least she doesn't have it! But try doing relaxing activities, take some time off work, and enjoy yourself to get your period back! Anything is possible and we are all individual and unique.

Also, get some blood tests and consult a gynecologist to make sure there isn't anything that can be causing your irregularities.
