I've just come back from having a trans-vaginal scan (due to painful, heavy periods) and was told that I have Polycystic Ovaries - my ovaries 'are covered in follicles on both sides.'
I've been told I need a blood test to see if I have PCOS. I've looked at all the symptoms of PCOS though and I have virtually the opposite of every one; I'm slightly underweight (as opposed to overweight), my periods are heavy and painful (not scanty or absent), I have no hair loss or excessive hair and I've never had acne, so although obviously I'm not a doctor I definitely think that PCOS can be pretty much ruled out, which leaves the question though, why are my ovaries covered in cysts?
I'm 30 and I started my periods aged 15 and they were fine at first, then from aged 17 onwards I'm virtually bedridden in agony on the first day and have to wear a towel at night they're so heavy.
They've always been regualr this past year they're been around 4 days early or late.
Any one any ideas? I'm abit worried whats wrong with me!
Thank you, Joanne xx
