Teen with possible pmdd? Really struggling

Hiya, im new to the website, im hoping someone could possibly give me some advice ,

I am 17 , every month a few weeks before my cycle i am all over the place. One second i will be crying and having horrible anxiety then the next i will be bubbly and happy then i will be irritated.

My thoughts go all over the place and i get gorrid intrusive thoughts. Does anyone else get this?

Its like im detached from my body and just daydreaming constantly

It doesnt help that i dont do a lot during the day as i tend to sit and wind myself up :/

Anyone reassure me? As i am under 18 i cant take ssris or medication other than the pill

    Anyone help?x

PMDD is a serious condition that needs to be managed by a professional. Please talk to your healthcare provider about it. If its not that serious, there are other options. Going on the pill is one option. Leading an active healthly lifestyle will help also. Regular exercise and eating less sugars. As you get closer to your period, try to eat less cards and more proteins. This will not happen overnight but in a few months you will start seeing that when you are exercising regularly, it really helps your moods and the ups and downs that you feel during your period are not as extreme.

What you are going through doesn't sound uncommon for PMS. As SP states, PMDD is something much more severe than typical PMS. I think it is important to log your symptoms from one month to the next. Write them down when you experience them, then look back over them when you're done with your period. Do the same thing the next month.

I do not believe I have PMDD. But there were times when I was taking hormonal BC that I felt like a totally different person during PMS time. And some months, PMS lasted for 2 full weeks before my period. The end result was, I had one GOOD week per month. I was irrational at times....but aware of the issue, aware that I wasn't myself so I learned to contain some of that.

Since going off the pill, my symptoms of PMS differ from month to month. One month I may have no physical symptoms but be TOTALLY irritable and find myself crying over commercials. Another month I'm not emotionally affected at all, but have physical symptoms coming out the wazoo (bloating, sore breasts, insatiable appetite, cramps, back ache, gas etc).

Along with journaling your symptoms and experiences each month during this time, please find a way to get yourself involved in something. Get yourself physically moving. It's CRUCIAL to your health. For most of us, regular exercise proves to reduce pms symptoms. Not only physically, but it helps to reduce stress which reduces the psychological symptoms as well. Next, make it a point to reduce things like caffiene and sugar from your diet.

I applaud you for trying to take control of this at a young age.
