No Period In 11 Months
I'm 18. I got my period when I was 12, and it's been pretty regular. About 2 years ago, there was a 3 month span when I didn't get my period at all, but then it came back, so I didn't think anything of it. Well, the same thing has happened again. I had my period in June 2011, the summer before I started my freshman year of college. In August of that same summer, I had some brown discharge, but that's all. Throughout freshman year, I never got my period. Well, my period just full-blown came back about 2 weeks ago - about 11 months have passed, so basically I had secondary amenorrhea. I'm thinking it may have been stress induced since it was my first year of college, and since it came only after I returned home for the summer. My question is, is this something to worry about? Will this cause fertility issues whenever I want to conceive? Is it a sign that something's wrong with my reproductive system? Do I even have a reason to worry since it came back? Has anyone else had this problem? -
Hi Butterflylove. Welcome to the WH Forum.
I'm sure you will get some replies in time. Please know that there are many people here from all around the world and with different time zones.
It also may be that not many people don't have a Period for 11 months straight. The only times I didn't have a period, was the 9 months of Pregnancy . So you may have an unusual case here . One not many have experienced .
Have you talked with a Gynecologist ? That would be my first step.

I have a genetic condition passed down from my mother where my brain does not tell my lady parts it's time to have my period, so I don't get it. I was 13 when I got my first period, I had about 3 regular ones, then nothing. As I got older it would show up absolutely randomly, I could over a year with nothing then get it one time and that was it.
When I was a teenager the doctor explained this and said that for my age it was fine that I wouldn't get it. But once I reached 20, I would NEED to have my period for my own health. As we all know not getting your period means that you have to go in for a scraping and that the procedure hurts a lot. That's when I was put on birth control so I would get my period and it would stay regular.
You might have the same condition. My only suggestion is to go see a doctor, explain the eradicate period and see what they tell you. Since you're speaking of being in college, you are most likely at the age that for your own health, you need to be getting your period. So if insurance is a problem, check out a free clinic. I do not suggest putting this off.Comment
