Sixteen year old virgin, no period in 3 months?

Aha... Hi, everybody. My name is Jordan, I just joined this site and, as the thread title says, I'm a sixteen year old virgin who hasn't had her period in a while. I've been stressing over it the last few days and I'm kind of concerned, which is why I came here to ask for advice and tips.

So, first off, let me just say I started when I was ten or eleven years old. I was born in Sep. of 1995 and started in March of 2006. Up until now I've been pretty regular with periods that lasted between three and five days. Every now and again I'd skip a month, but the next month I'd start again. One of my last periods actually started one day, stopped the next, and then kind of started a little bit again, then stopped. That was either late 2011 or early 2012. I want to say my last period was early April, but I don't actually remember so it could've been any time between late January/early February to then. I know I didn't have one in May, June, and now, quite possibly, July. Again, April is me thinking as optimistically as I can.

I told my mother this a few weeks back and she said it was fine. The other day, and perhaps every day since then, I've asked her again. I have OCD, so you have to understand that when a concern gets in my head, it doesn't leave. I get that from her. She says I also get going months without a period from her. She started when she was sixteen and only had two or three periods a YEAR.

There are differences between us, however. Firstly, like I said before, I started way earlier in life than she did. Secondly, when she started she couldn't have weighed even a hundred pounds. Right now, at this exact moment, I weigh roughly 107 pounds. I almost always weigh between 105 and 112. Doesn't weight play a hand in your cycle?

Now, here's a comforting fact for me, though forgive my train of thought for being everywhere. She says that my sister is the same way. She started at roughly eleven, like me, and her periods were pretty normal until she hit sixteen. Then she started missing some and such, like I am now. I don't know if it's actually just in my genes or not, though. Could it be?

Sorry, you guys. This isn't normal for me, like I said, so I'm stressing. I hear stress can actually make you miss a period, but I live stressed because of my OCD, which I do not and have never taken medicine for. I don't think it would start messing with things now.

I've looked up ways of inducing periods and earlier I bought some parsley and made parsley tea, because apparently in some cases it can make you start. I've only drank one cup so far. Are there actually ways to induce your period? Has anyone here tried parsley tea? I'd like to hear some experiences with it.

I just want to know if this is safe. Let's pretend I go another five months without a period; would that be okay for my health? That's all that really matters to me. I doubt it would be. My mother says she'll take me to a doctor, if I want, but I'm trying to wait until I start school in late August. If I haven't had my period by then, I want to go. But what sort of tests would they do? Anything painful? Could I ask for a female doctor?

Could stressing about this push it off even more? Because, frankly, I haven't even thought about it the last few months, aside from a few passing thoughts about it.

Please help... sorry for such a long post.

Oh girl! You are making ME stressed just reading that post, lol. Breathe, relax... This is very uncommon, I really wouldn't worry too much about it. The same thing happened to me when I was your age. Sophomore year, I went 4-6 months without a period. Your cycle will not be like clock work your entire life. A lot of things factor into when you have your period. Diet changes, exercise changes, stress, schedule changes, which way the wind blows, anything and everything. You are stressing about this, which is also probably causing some of it too.

Breathe, relax. I wouldn't go into trying to induce your period, because though it may work to bring it on, it may only be for this month.

If you are that stressed about it, head to the Dr. Yes, you can request to see a female Dr. No, they more than likely won't do anything painful. Ask questions, possibly an exam.

You have secondary amenorrhea. Go to a gynecologist, they will prescribe something like provera
