    Can't insert tampon... Help!

So I'm almost 16, and have had my period for about two years now. I've been using pads but I really want to switch to tampons because of dancing. But I just can't seem to put it in. I've wasted about ten tampons trying already. I've done a ton of research, so I think I know the drill(?). I really don't have any idea what I'm doing wrong... And I can't ask my mom because she doesn't use tampons. She's telling me to give up trying to use one... :' (

Never give up on trying to use one! You just need to get the hang of it! I know the first time i tried to use a tampon when i was 14 was very uncomfortable cos I did it wrong (Didnt push it in far enough. Trying to sit down was horrible lol!)

Remember the vagina has the capability of getting a baby out of it! They are very stretchy and adjust, so a tiny tampon is nothing. Dont be shy from your own body. Get a mirror and have a look around down there, and figure out exactly where your vagina hole is. Once your know where it is it'll be alot easier when your trying to apply one. When your there at the toilet, if it helps, put one leg up on the toilet to apply it (it doesnt matter how you look, no one can see you!).

I dont know if your using applicator tampons or not, but personally i dont use the applicators so i can move the tampon around once its inside to make sure its in a comfortable position. Its more ikky, but hey thats what soap and water is for lol. I cant advise you on the applicator ones really cos i've never used one, but if you dont use an applicator one, Push the tampon up around a full middle fingers worth. Once its in move around a bit (i normal sit on the toilet again) to see i you can feel it or not. If you feel a sharp pain its probably not far in enough so push it up abit more, just try to be quick in the process because the tampon will expand once its inside you.

Anyway, check out this video if you didnt understand me well (Or i you want to use applicator tampons instead) This will give you a more visual idea (Dont worry is still PG-rated lol)

Since you have never used tampons, the ones with plastic applicators may be easier to use. When trying to insert it, insert the applicator and aim toward the small of your lower back. Ease it in up to the base of the applicator where your fingers are holding it then put the smaller plunge slowly so that you don't hurt yourself. And yes, make sure you have it in far enough or it will hurt. Also, adjust the string slightly back or it may rub your clit raw since you are active. Be sure to change it regularly. Your post doesn't say, so I'm going to add this: make sure you are using one that is 'size' appropriate. What I mean by this is - do not use a 'super' for maximum absorbency unless you are bleeding A Lot! Stick with regular and light absorbency tampons until you get the hang of it. You will figure out soon enough if which 'size' you need.
