School Period
I started when I was 12 and have been going about 8-10 months now! To start I was quite heavy and didn't have much trouble, but during the summer holidays I went on holiday for 1 week. For 4 or 5 days I was on my period and was really heavy. I had to go and change my pad every 1-2 hours. I had terrible stomach pains and wouldn't leave the house. A few weeks after I went on holiday again. I started during the holiday again, but I was light enough to go out and do activities and change 2 or 3 times a day! I started back at school and now I'm really heavy again and needing to change rather regularly. I can't go during lessons and I'm always really worried about leaking. I'm currently using quite absorbent pads and I find tampons uncomfortable at school during games and stuff! is there anything I can do make it so I don't have to change as regularly, not need to worry about leaking and not be so uncomfortable! -
Get your parents to write a note to your teachers explaining that, due to a medical issue, you are to be allowed bathroom access whenever you need it, no questions asked. It's ridiculous that you're expected to ruin your clothes month after month rather than interrupt class.
Using hormonal birth control might lighten your period, making you need to change your pad less. You'll have to talk to your parents and a doctor about this.<center><i>Nature gives us shapeless shapes,<br>Clouds and waves and flame,<br>But human expectation is that love remains the same,<br>And when it doesn’t, we point our fingers and blame.</i><br><a href="http://www.womens-health.com/boards/register.php">Register</a>|<a href="http://www.womens-health.com/boards/members/little.html">Contact Admin</a>|<a href="mailto:support*womens-health.com?subject=Forum Contact">Email Admin</a></center> -
I'm in college now but things have not changed much since I was in high school. I have always had an irregular period, some months like a flood, others hardly noticeable. The worst part is that it can change from light to heavy mid-period without warning. I play it safe and use double protection, tampon and pad. Most times I only have to change the tampon but when the pad is wet too, I know that I have avoided an accident that at most could have been embarrassing or just soiled my undies.
Also, the note from your parents is a must. Just don't let the other kids catch on as to what's going on.sigpic
