Menstrual cup
Can you ladies share your experience with the various menstrual cups. Which one you prefer and why. How to avoid leakage. How to avoid spillage when pulling it out. I would like to start using them and any advise would be greatly appreciated.Freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose - Kris Kristofferson and Fred Foster (sung by Janis Joplin) -
I've tried both the Diva Cup and the Moon Cup. They are both very similar, but I think I like the Moon Cup a little bit better. It's a little bit more flexible to me. It's hard to pinpoint why I like it more because, like I said, they are VERY similar. But the Moon Cup gets my vote.
I have found that it takes some practice to get the "feel" of inserting the cups, but you will soon figure out what works for you. Leakage occurs because the cup is not seated just right. But with practice you will see what your perfect insertion area is. And there are lots of forums and information on line with ladies sharing tips and information.
I do have one day of REALLY heavy bleeding (I'm talking I have to empty the cup every hour and a half). Of course on that day I have to wear a pad to just to be on the safe side. But on my normal days, the cup is fantastic! I've never had any real issues with spillage even extracting the cup on my heaviest day. You just have to be mindful to keep the cup at a certain angle when emptying it.
I love the menstrual cup, and I would never go back to wearing tampons.
I don't know if you will get a lot of responses here, but there is a wealth of information and shared stories on line on other forums and blogs regarding menstrual cups.
