    Help. Strange, squishy mass.

    Hi all.

I'm not normally one to feel overly anxious about my health, but something about this recent discovery of mine gave me pause and I'd like some advice.

First of all, I am not currently sexually active -- the last time I was sexually active was 2010.

However, I was just examining things "down there" the other day, which I do every once and a while just to make sure things always look the same and this time, they definitely didn't.

I have a... well... 'blob' is the best word that comes to mind. It's not really under the skin, and it's not a cyst because I know what cysts look like/I've had one (though it was not in the genital region). It's sort of puffy, and it's about the size of my thumbnail right at/over the vaginal opening. I can still insert things (eg tampon) into the vagina, but I don't like this new, puffy mass/blob that's there now. It is light pink, mainly. And no, it's not part of my labia (as I said, it's right at and around the vaginal opening), and it's not congealed lubrication or anything. And it's not under the skin or taking the appearance of a bubble filled with pus like a cyst would be. So I know what it isn't, but I definitely don't know what it is. But it's making me uneasy.

PLEASE forgive my tragically poor description. A picture's worth a thousand words (especially in this case), but I sincerely doubt I'm allowed to post a picture. So this will have to do.

Anyway, I'm a little concerned about this. It sets off a red flag in my mind. Should I be concerned that it could possibly be a small tumor? Or maybe it's something else I would never have considered. That's why I'd like other minds to weigh in. I'd like some input; it would be so appreciated, you have no idea.

Have a spectacular weekend, all. Thanks in advance for reading and hopefully responding.

Oh, I forgot to mention: it doesn't hurt.

Hi and welcome to the WH Forum.

I'm sorry, I doubt anyone can tell you anything other than Go See a Dr.

It's best you do so ASAP so as to ease your mind and have it removed or " cured ".

      Good Luck .

BG is right... there is no way for anyone here to tell you what it is or really even could be. While most "strange" masses are innocent and go away on their own, some can be very serious and so it is important to get things checked out when you feel unsure. If nothing else, it will give you peace of mind. Good job for being self aware enough to notice the lump. Get it checked out asap so you get it figured out. Let us know how it turns out!

I agree with the others, going to the dr. is the only way to accurately get a diagnosis. However, I have heard about people getting Bartholin glands cyst in the area you describe. Maybe you could google the term and look at pics. to see if what you are experiencing is similar. From what I have read, some hurt really bad while others present no pain at all.
