    No period for 8 months!

I'm 21 and I've always had a irregular period since 16 but within the last 8 months it is nonexistent. I was worried so I asked my i Gynocologist, he told me not to worry about it so I brushed it off. Well last month I had a regular doctors appointment, I told her about about my problem she told me that that's not normal and she gave me a blood test for my thyroid and to test for pregnancy just in case. Well it came back normal. I went to the hospital to do some ultrasounds. I'm waiting for the results now. I'm worried and wondering what should I expect? Does anybody know of anything that is could be the problem? And has this ever happened to you?
    Any info would be great

    Thanks,
    Lizzy

Are you taking any form of BC?

If not, it is not "normal" to go 8 months without a period. Doctors who say things like that anger me. What is NORMAL is for you to ovulate and have a period every month. I'm glad your regular doctor knew better.

Perhaps you have polycystic ovaries, or maybe even one large cyst (that could also be causing bladder pressure. Re: your UTI thread).

Try not to worry too much. Wait for your results and hope for the best. It sounds like you're doing all the right things by getting checked out.

No I'm not I've been off the birth control pill for a long time. I wanted to have another baby at some point not yet but in a few years maybe I had my son without having a period for over 6 months but I don't think ill be lucky again until this is fixed. And the gynocologist was a man my regular doctor is a woman so I'm sure she knows best.(:

Whenever possible I see a Female Dr. for my Female Problems, It's not that all Male Dr's aren't knowledgeable, it's just that they aren't women and haven't " felt " the things we do when Somethings Outta Whack .

Which reminds me of when I was in my early 20's, I'm now close to 60, but I was having some Severe Heart racing and palpitations and I'd go to ER or my Dr. ( Al Males back then ) and they would say it was a Panic Attack, and I needed to calm down and relax .. Even with a Heart rate at 217 beats per minute ..This they decided was my Diagnosis because the " Attacks " would settle Down after 20-30 minutes .

Even though I've been a Heart Patient with Open Heart Surgery performed when I was 4 years old , this was in 1959 , they still said it was Panic Attacks.. Grrrr
Finally, I was having an Attack and was actually in ER with an Echo being done along with the EKG.. Wow to their Surprise, they saw the problem and Diagnosed WPWS .. You can look that up if interested .

That was 1984,.. Now they know that I know what I'm talking about, It's not in my Head and Not a Panic Attack and not a Heart Attack. It's WPWS.
And I now ask for someone that knows what I have and how to treat it quickly . If the ER Nurse or DR. Male or Female, gives me that HUH ? Look , I ask for someone that knows their Stuff .

You just may have to do some research and keep on going and asking for the Proper DR. that knows their Stuff !!

The Medical people may be better " Trained " in most issues, But you are the Best Trained about your Own Body . You know when Somethings not Right . You just need to find a Dr. that also knows something is Not Right and has the Intelligence to send you out to Professionals that may know a bit more than them .. Called Specialists.

Diligence My Friend .. Diligence .
And I hope you feel better soon .

Wow that's horrible they dismissed your heart concerns like that. I'm glad you knew better. Was it Wolfe Parkinson white syndrome? I just looked it up
To be perfectly honest my gynoecolist does not like me I am 21 years old I got married at 18 and then got pregnant I guess he thinks I'm too young or something because he has always brushed off my concerns and I'm glad I asked my female doctor and she decided to do some tests.
