Missing periods but negative pregnancy tests? very confused would like advice!

I have a long distance boyfriend of almost a year now and he came to visit me for three weeks during December. We had sex with out condoms but I am on the pill and never miss any. The last couple days he was here I started having UTI symptoms and once he left I made an appointment to have myself checked out. I did have a UTI and started the antibiotics my doctor gave me. That same week I had started the red pills in my pack and was scheduled to have my period, but I never got it. Thinking that the UTI may have postponed my period I never started my next pack of birth control pills because I wanted to make sure I had a period first. Now its a month later and if I don't have my period in the next few days i will have skipped two! Please help, I don't understand why my periods are not coming! I did not have sex while taking the antibiotics because I know they make birth control pills unreliable and my boyfriend was out of town anyways, when he was in town I did not miss one single pill. Also I have taken 3 pregnancy tests spread out over the last month and they all came up negative! I really doubt I am pregnant but the fact that I'm missing periods scares me a great deal.

If you don't start in the next few days, you may want to do a couple of things. 1. Take another HPT using the first mornings urine. 2. Call your dr. and explain the circumstances and see what they say, or 3. Go take to your pharmacist. Often times the pharmacist can offer you better information and drugs and there interaction with other medicines. I'd actually do the above in reverse, talk to pharmacist, then dr. and then HPT. Sometimes HPT's wills show negative and pregnancies can only be determined by blood test. But as you have described, pregnancy sounds unlikely. Since you didn't take your next pack of pills, you body may be going through a hormonal adjustment trying to figure out what to do.

Thank you for the helpful advice! I was considering starting the new pack to try and put myself back on schedule and just wait to see if my period comes with the next cycle. But do you think this is more of a problem that needs medical advice sooner than that?

I most likely will call my doctor within the next few days. Also just wondering, but why could the pregnancy tests be wrong??

I have looked for the thread that one of our members recently posted, but so many older threads (by several months) have been resurrected recently and I can't located it at this time. She stated that she was concerned about being pregnant again, but taking HPTs did her no good because all of them come back negative when she was, in fact, pregnant with her first child. The only way she was able to get confirmation was through a blood test performed by her doctor. Granted, that is not the norm, but it can happen.

It seems that having uti's, taking antibiotic, and screwed up cycles is kind of common for a lot of women. Still, I'd talk to the pharmacist and place a call to your dr.s office. Neither of those options will cost you anything and may offer valuable insight. From what you say, it doesn't sound like you are pregnant, but taking bc pills if you are can harm the fetus so making sure you aren't before taking the next pack of pills is a good idea.

          Best Wishes!

Missed periods can also be down to stress. I went 4 months without one when I was doing my A levels and got so paranoid I was pregnant. I took a pregnancy test every fortnight and none were possitive.
