Any ideas what it could be now?
In a previous post I said I haven't had a period for 8 month no I'm not pregnant been tested I've had blood work ultrasounds don't all negative so I don't have a cyst. I don't have a thyroid problem what could it be? Are my hormones just low? I'm freaking out wondering I'm so tired all day I don't want to do anything or go anywhere my face is breaking out. Worse than I ever had in high school. I've gained a little weight which is probably making me depressed. I have another doctor appt Monday. -
I haven't gone as long as you but I am in the same boat, not pregnant but no period in a long time and tired all the time. Have you tried taking Provera or anything similar? I am on day 6 and still waiting for period to show up. The side effects really suck to say the least but at this point, I'm willing to try anything. What did your doctor say? -
Is Provera birth control? I'm off my birth control it stopped working for my periods. Well I've had all these tests done hormone test, thyroid test, blood test, ultra sounds, tumor test and a cell count all normal. Next my doctor says I need to go to an actual gyno. I have to wait till next month for my apt. It's driving me nuts.Comment

Sorry to hear about your troubles. The endocrine system is a fabulous interconnected web of messengers and secretors and receptors and despite what many medical doctors seem to think, no one facet of it operates in isolation.
The thyroid (specifically the hormone that is secrets) is the 'master motivator' for nearly all biochemical reactions in the body. Although a reasonable person might assume that a simple thyroid test would reveal all one could wish to know (from a diagnostic perspective) about the state of their thyroid, it simply is not the case.
Did you oly get tested for TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) or were free T3 and free T4 also measured? Often, to save costs, the doctor will only test for TSH and if it falls within a certain range (a range that takes no account of your age or your previous thyroid levels back when you were more energetic) then "good news, your thyroid is normal", which is a very poor conclusion IMO.
For example, your thyroid levels could have dropped by 50% or more and you could still fit within the 'normal' range, when clearly you are not normal - for YOU.
Have you heard of 'reverse T3 syndrome'? Look it up on wiki. Also look up 'euthyroid sick syndrome'. Basically, 'euthyroid' means 'normal thyroid' and euthyroid sick syndrome means 'all the symptoms you would see with a thyroid deficiency yet the thyroid levles appear normal'.
Yes, this is cutting edge stuff, but that doesn't mean that you yourself are an 'oddity'. Instead it means that after YEARS of misdiagnosis, the medical community is finally beginning to look at this very real condition.
Lets be honest, I'm not a medical doctor so take my words for what they are worth, but I am on a very research-based board as well as this one and the topic has come under scrutiny because the board owner has a reverse T3 issue.
Now it may in fact NOT be thyroid related, but it behooves you (in my opinion) to wrest some control out of the hands of the doctors and basck into your own hands. Self-education is a wonderful thing, so it should pay off to start learning about the thyroid and just how far-reaching the effects of thyroid hormone are.
For example, thyroid hormones affect the cellular response to sex hormones as well as affecting the amount of your sex hormones that you actually produce. If you throw your sex hormones out of blanace, you alter your skin pH (acidity). Suddenly, bacteria that live on your skin are no longer being kept in check by skin acidity, so they can multiply, leading to acne.
Your ovaries will produce less estrogen if there is less thyroid gormone, which will obviously affect your menstrual cycle.
On a practical note: If you want more energy, here is a trick that I use on my patients sometimes:
Purchase coenzyme Q10 powder from purebulk (30g)
Purchase coconut oil in a glass jar (400-500G)
melt the coconut oil in a bain marie and add the Q10 powder.
Now you have a cost effective and highly bio-available source of Q10 that you can store in the fridge and eat with a teaspoon.
Q10 is an essential co-factor in mitochondrial production of ATP (energy) which is critical to cellular function.
Put it this way: A high dose protocol of Q10 seems to do an excellent job of restoring daily energy levels in certain people. My neurophysiology lecturer told me about this idea and having tried it I will say categorically that it was the single best 'rejuvenation' protocol I have ever spent my hard-earned money on!
Even my aging dog agrees. After 24 hours on high dose Q10 he was much more energetic and playful and his eyes seemed less cloudy and more alert.

Provera is not a birth control, it's just progesterone that helps jump start your period. Or it's supposed to lol, I'm still waiting to see if it is going to help me.
In all seriousness, I truly hope you get some answers. I feel like I'm losing it and its only been a couple of months , I cannot imagine going through this for 8 months with no relief

I can't edit my post (longer than 5 minutes) so I just want to say that the Q10 protocol, whilst excellent is in no way intended to replace proper medical treatment. It is simply a healthy 'band aid' approach to restore daily energy to some degree whilst you attempt to treat the underlying issues!

I will definitely look up t3 syndrome thank you Alex! I actually am taking an dietary supplement I know most ppl say not too but it really has helped my energy level and helped me be able to excerise because I was gaining weight and it was making me more depressed!
tiredoffeelinglikeimcrazy, I actually took that because when I was 18 and I didn't get my period for like over 7 months I actually got pregnant using that well and of course my husband lol but still no period and that was about 2 years ago.then after my pregnancy I was back on birth control but several months later it stopped working.
This is driving me crazy too also I went to a Gynocologist before hand and he just told me not to worry about it. Months later still nothing. How can you tell someone not to worry when there is obviously something wrong!Comment

Would you mind telling me what the supplement is? I can give you a breakdown of the effects of each ingredient and what it might be doing for, or against, you.I will definitely look up t3 syndrome thank you Alex! Ok well I like USP labs since they do put some original thought into their products. I used their cissus product for joint pain years ago and it was good.
However there is some serious flummery in their marketing hyperbole. They claim that the ideal thermogenic burns subcutaneous fat and not visceral fat. Well OK, from a purely cosmetic perspective I agree but from a health perspective it is visceral fat (proven time and time again in studies) that 'chokes up' your internal organs and contributes to their degeneration, leading to conditions like diabetes, kidney-induced blood pressure increases etc.
So once I read that I was disheartened, but I carried on reading for you, haha
OK so generally I like the way they have tackled the issue of energy production from liberated fatty acids (fat stores) logically. And they have bacopa in their product which is a personal favourite herb of mine. But they also put in geranamine and caffine. These are fairly powerful stimulants which can cause palpitations etc as well as elevating blood pressure.
The use of stimulants may well be counterproductive for weight loss in some individuals because the elevation in stress hormones can cause a temporary reduction in insulin sensitivity, meaning your muscles do not soak up blood glucose, leaving it to circulate until the liver converts it into fat.
Ultimately though since this is not a particularly harmful product, it comes down to the old 'risk Vs reward' equation. If this product helps you get motivated and energised and exercising where you were sedentary before, then it's overall effect is going to be positive.
Yes lots of people condemn 'fat burning' supplements, but in most cases there is no need.
Just be aware that geranamine quickly becomes adapted to, meaning that you either require more/higher dose to get the same effect, or it feels ineffective.
Also, stimulant use, particularly in the afternoon or evening can (and often will) play havoc with your rest/sleep, reducing it's effectiveness and therefore counteracting some of the beneficial effects of exercise.
You can combat this with phosphatidyserine (500-1000mg), glycine (2000-5000mg), vitamin C (2000 -4000mg), or melatonin (1-3mg).
