    PMDD Support

    Hi,

My name is Jennifer. I am a mother, wife, & graduate student (among many other roles) and deal with PMDD. I have begun a blog on this issue to try and facilitate discussion and get feedback from other women (and partners of women) who have PMDD. There is very little out there for us and I would like to change that - thus - the new blog. (outbound links must be in signature)
The blog is called Reprieve: PMDD.

    Thanks!
    Jennifer

    PMDD Support

    Jennifer,
I hope your post will get lots of replies. I am a mother of a daughter who is 39 and who was told four months ago that she is suffering with PMDD. For years, she's always thought she had severe PMS. All the websites I've read say that women with PMDD need a lot of support, but I can't find anyone who can tell me what that means. If you were to tell someone what you need in the way of support, what would you say? Thank you so much for your help. I hope that by helping me, you will receive the "support" you need...and it will help others to know what they should do in the way of support for loved ones suffering from this terrible disorder.

      Partner Help

      Hi Jennifer and Carolina,

I can't really add anything for you two but maybe you or your partners can help me. I'm the partner of a wonderfull woman who suffers the worst PMDD I have heard of.

I've been seqrching but haven't been able to find a forum or support for the partners of women who suffer PMDD.

Do you know of any? It's a very different persepective from this side and i can't imagine the depths of the effect it msut have on so many relationships. i know it significantly effects mine. If not support for partners the relationship support for PMDD sufferers?

      Allan

Hi everyone. I'm dealing with PMDD as well. I am unsure of exactly how long I have had it though. I always had severe PMS but it started to get worse after I turned 30. I actually thought it was just that good old clock ticking. Well after the birth of my daughter it has come back to haunt me with a vengence. This makes my previous cycles look like a cake walk. I suffer from dibilitating migranes, mood swings that make even me feel sorry for those around me, exhaustion, severe insomnia (no sleep for 3 days at a time no matter what), cramps that nothing seems to help, inability to concentrate (which is EXTREMELY frustrating) and alot of flu like symptoms as well.

I talked to my OBGYN about it and she didn't seem to understand the severity of the symtoms either and switched my birthcontrol instead. I am seeing no difference and in fact this month was worse then last. I am having such a hard time with this. Everyone just looks at me like I should just deal with it but they don't realize HOW BAD it really is or how I feel. I had to call my husband to come home yesterday to take care of the kids because I felt like I might pass out and I was just so beat up from it.

I just hope that I can find other women who deal with this and have ideas on what to do to help deal with the issues.

        Thanks so much!
