    cant use tampons :(

Ok, so i started my period in august last year which was obviously my first period and i swim and run train every day so i have to use tampons. I also prefer to use tampons because pads are just so uncomfortable. So, 6 months ago when i first started my period, i used a tampon to swim in but i couldnt take it out after and had to go to a&e to have it removed :'( they basically said i need to wait abit as im still small down there and the tampon got stuck :/ the internet said it might have been too dry but im so scared that i cant use them! I have missed alot of training because of this. I want to use tampons because they are so good, i cant even feel them. So i want to know if anyone has any ideas on what i should do, or if you have been through this and what u did.....anything and quick, i dont know how long i can use pads for anymore. Im young btw, and average size for my age if this is kmportant info.

You Probably used a regular size, try a JR or Tween size. These days Girls start as early as 9 years old. In my day we started around 15 or 16 .

I doubt you are too small.
If you are of Normal Growth for your age.
    You may be too tense.
    Remember .. Learn..

The vaginal muscles have to relax, or you will never be able to insert a tampon.
You can do this yourself, but it will take a few moments to learn which muscles to control. First, go sit on the toilet, and urinate.

While you are going, try to stop the flow. Those muscles are all part of the same group that control the vaginal canal. If you pay close attention, you will be able to tighten those, or the ones for stopping urination, and learn to tighten or relax them separately.
Once you have emptied your bladder, it's a good time to try again. Bear down and relax just like you did to have a wee, and try inserting your tampon again. It should be able to insert a lot easier. Keep bearing down until you have it in place, and remove the applicator.
If you have it in the right position, you shouldn't even be able to feel it at all really. The vaginal canal will expand to fit the tampon, honestly. It is designed to allow a baby's head to descend, and a tampon has nothing on that. It does look small, but looks are deceiving. The key is to relax those muscles.

    Self Help...

Make sure you did it right .

    1. First, look at the tampon. The larger outer tube that holds the tampon itself at the very end is the top – this is the part that is inserted into the vagina. Think – top = tampon. The thinner inside tube is the one where the string is showing. This is the inner or bottom tube – the part that is used to push the tampon in.

    2. Wash your hands. Stand or sit in a comfortable position. Sit on the toilet with your legs apart and lean slightly forward, or try standing with your knees slightly bent. Standing with one foot up on the tub also works for some girls. Most of the time, you'll end up putting in a tampon while you're on the toilet – so that's a good place to start.

    3. Look at the tampon applicator again – you'll see some ridges, this is the finger grip, on the larger tube. With the thumb and middle finger of one hand, hold the applicator lightly on the outer insertion tube at the grip location, with the larger outer tube facing up toward your body and the thinner inner tube pointing down toward the floor.

    4. With your other hand, gently separate the folds of skin around the vaginal opening. Put the tip of the larger outer tube of the tampon applicator in the opening of the vagina. Are you still breathing?! Don't forget to! It helps you stay relaxed.

    5. The vagina slants upward and toward the back. So, aim the tampon toward a point low on the small of your back (the curved area of your lower back). Now, take a deep breath, let it out, and relax. Then gently push the larger, outer tube of the applicator into the vagina. Stop when your thumb and middle finger are touching the vaginal opening.

NOTE: For flushable (cardboard) applicator tampons, ease in the applicator by slightly twisting or rotating it from side to side. Don't twist a plastic applicator, this slides in best when pushed straight in at the proper angle.

    6. Next, put your index finger (or a finger on the other hand) at the end of the inner, thinner tube (where the cord comes out). Push this inner tube slowly until it's completely inside the larger tube. This pushes the tampon out of the applicator and into your vagina. Move your finger from the end so that the string hangs free. Keep your thumb and middle finger on the outer tube grip.

    7. Now, holding the tubes (that are now inside each other) firmly but gently remove them from the vagina.

If the tampon is in correctly, you shouldn't feel it at all. If it feels uncomfortable, it's probably not placed far enough into your vagina. The uncomfortable feeling comes from the tampon rubbing against the muscle at the opening of the vagina. If this happens, remove the tampon and use a fresh one, trying to insert it a little deeper into the vagina.

    8. To remove a tampon, relax your muscles. Slowly and gently pull the removal string downward at the same angle you used to insert the tampon. Don’t worry about the string – it’s securely sewn throughout the tampon. If you feel discomfort while removing the tampon, it probably means you didn't need to change it because it hadn't absorbed enough yet. You may either want to wear a tampon longer next time or use a lower absorbency.

I know that learning about your Periods and how to take care of them can be embarrassing at first, even to talk to your Mom or Sister or Aunt or other Trusted Friend. But you should talk with someone and make sure you have the Proper one.

But when you have your First Cycle, you are on your Womanhood part of your life .
You will have another 30 to 40 years to learn how to "take care " of it .. Rather than do it wrong and feel you can never use Tampons, try some of the Suggestions above ..
Starting with the SIZE and Applicator type .

Being Educated is the first step.

The next thing is to Note is.

That every day your are Maturing you are also " Growing Down there" .
So at least trying is OK.
If it seems way too Difficult or hurts...seek a Gynecologist to do some tests and Ultra Sounds.
I didn't have the chance of Tampons in my first period days and when Tampons came out for Public use , I couldn't put them in or wear them without pain.
    But....We had only One Size.
    ~ 1980's ~
And a Basic Shove it in and take it out type Directions..
And it turned out I had a " Tilted Uterus " so the ones I had tried, just got "Stuck" and were scraping. But they weren't stuck , just not fitting right.

You can Research Toxic Shock Syndrome, Girls were forgetting they were in ( The Tampons ) Putting in another, having sex with one in.. Those were in the " Old days ". When we all were Uneducated and Now they inform us and try to teach us and try to keep us Healthy and Toxic shock is Very Rare these days .

Walmart have Jr's or 1st time tampons users packs, Tampax pearl also have minis that are easy to use also, Playtex sport is the best brand for young girls, so use those if you can ?

    Welcome to Womanhood.

        You are very Welcome Meoww

I'm glad it worked and that you now have no problem using them . Remember at night to use a pad though, it's not that good to use a tampon for more than 4-5 hours, especially if they aren't the Super Absorbent ones .

Maybe you can Save/ Copy and Print those instructions and have them available for your Swim Coach or Sex Ed Teacher or School Nurse to use for other young ladies that are just starting or wanting to use Tampons ?

Being Educated and Informed makes things so much easier . And I'm sure they will appreciate you showing ( Giving them a Copy ) them that you are Up on it .. And now it seems you are " Up on it and More Educated" than they are . Lol .

Good luck with your Swim Stuff .
