VERY frequent UTI's. HELP!!
Hey guys, I'm 16 years old, almost 17. My UTI's started when I was 2 years old, and my vagina hole was completely closed, they stopped occurring, then came back when I turned 14. This is when I became sexually active. They occurred very often, I even peed after sex, wiped front to back. I had 8 UTI's in one month. All my doctor gave me was antibiotics and told me to be on my way, so I switched doctors. One of my friends told me that his mother had severe UTI's as well, and they eventually turned into cancer cells. I don'y know if this is true, but it scares me. I'm only 16. My new doctor found out i had a blood clot in my uterus, and it was very big. It was also VERY painful to pass. I would be up crying all night long, soaking a tampon within 30 minutes to an hour. It recently just passed and is gone. I asked my doctor if the clot could have possibly been from my birth control. I'm on the Depo Provera. My doctor and GYN said that they do not think it was caused from that, and that they honestly don't know why I had it. But anyway, I'm really nervous and anxious about why I keep getting them. I have to take the pill after sex every time to help prevent them from happening, and sadly.. they still occur. What should I do?!? And can it turn into cancer like I was told if they keep happening?? 8 times in one month sounds VERY uncommon to me.
Thank you~

You are very young to have gone through all of this .
It sounds like you need to be referred to a Specialist. UTI's should not be so frequent.
Now the Blood Clot is different than the UTI, UTI is Urinary ( pee ) as you know. Some think the Uterus and Urethra are the same . It is common in younger people to not know the difference . Though it sounds like you are well Educated
I've had UTI's before... I took the Antibiotic's as Prescribed and I avoided Sex until the problem was gone. I also had Him, see a Dr. and be put on Antibiotics for 10 days .Just to make sure he wasn't passing the Bacteria back to me . He used to pass Yeast Infections and Chlamydia back to me after I was Treated .. UGH !!I have to take the pill after sex every time to help prevent them from happening, and sadly.. they still occur
Do you take the Antibiotics as Prescribed , every pill from the bottle,Drink lots of Water ?
I would avoid sex until you get this situation under control.
Uti after sex is usually caused by irritation around the urethra sometimes from one too dry or just from going too long.
Since theirs ( Males ) comes and go, maybe it's not from you, but you should go and get checked 1 more time. Try using a condom, so you don't get what they hold, (if you haven't already got it) most adjectives UTI is from e. coli which is in poop and they don't wash or you zigged when you should have zagged.
It's pretty common for women to develop a urinary tract infection after sex. It may not necessarily be from you, as germs can naturally exist on the skin of both you and your partner. The achievement of sex can push that bacteria up towards the woman's urethra where they can multiply and cause a UTI.
Anal sex combined near vaginal sex will also increase the risk of a UTI because a higher concentration of microbes is located in the anus. If already have taken antibiotics you may also drink plenty of water and cranberry juice as well this may help you a bit.
Using the low dose antibiotic and drinking plenty of water before and after sex, may help. Make sure ( After you cure this UTI ) that he showers or is Very Clean on his Penis and Lips and Tongue if he is doing Oral on you ,have him use a Germ Killing Mouth Wash prior to oral on you .
If you are practicing Anal make sure he cleans well before getting near your Vagina .
While varying Sex can be fun and pleasant, not being clean can cause extreme problems.
Both of you should be tested for STD's to make sure that the UTI's are not from something else .
Also, are you using Condoms ?
Some women are allergic to Latex Condoms. The allergic reaction can cause the opening of the Urethra to swell, therefore blocking the exit of the Urine and Bacteria and having it held in the Urinary Tract, which can cause the Infection. Be cautious of this as you can get Kidney infections and Stones. Passing Kidney Stones is much more painful than passing " normal " Uterine Blood Clots .
As for Cancer ?
Yes it is possible that you may be prone to Cancer and having long term untreated UTI's and other Untreated Diseases can speed Cancerous cells along . You are too young to have to go through this.
Then again,in My Book, Any Woman at Any Age is too Young to Get or Have Cancer .
So, as I suggested, see a Specialist, have him see a Dr. to make sure he has no Infections or Diseases .
Avoid Sex ( Intercourse both Oral and Anal) until your situation is settled.
A few weeks without Sex, may save you a Lifetime of Pain and Worry. And you can spend more time getting to know more about each other

I do not do Anal, I thought seeing an OBGYN was seeing a specialist. Is there a different specialist I should see? I do go without sex for a long period of time, but as soon as I do it again they come back. I've been with the same man for 4 years. He cleans himself very thoroughly. He showers at least 2 times a day. We've both been checked for STD's, and neither of us have any. Which is a good thing!!
I just don't understand how I'm getting them so often! They're painful and not something I want to live with for the rest of my life. Considering I'm really young, and these problems are already occurring. And I don't like having to take a pill before or after, because I could possibly become immune to the pill, along with the antibiotic to treat my UTI. Is there anything else I can do??? :/

So Sorry to hear that its happening, and happening so frequently. I have had this problem a couple of times, but nothing like you described. I think the first time it happened to me was when I was about 15, and it went away on its own. I am pretty sure I got it from having sex, but at the time I didn't know what caused it.
Are you have sex frequently without a condom? If so, trying using a condom for at least a couple of weeks. I know condoms aren't as pleasurable, but may help determine if that is how you are getting the infections. Don't want suggest anything, but if you are having sex with more than one guy, does it seem to happen with all, or just one?
Its probably unreleased, but some girls have a allergic reaction to a guy's semen. It shouldn't cause an infection, but can cause a lot of discomfort when the guy is not using a condom.
I am glad overall that you are taking the required sexual precations as well as having OBGYN. Its a fact that teenagers have sex, but so few have safe sex.Comment

cant someone do something?
Ive been with my partner (now married) for 8years. From 2005-2007 we had very regular sex & never got a UTI. Even the previous 6 partners since 2002 & never got a UTI. I was not ever careful about showers/peeing before and after but in 2008 I got my first UTI & unknowingly passed it to my partner during sex
(at least he knows how it feels sort of).. I was on a rollercoaster for a few years getting them 1 after the other. My doctor prescribed "Alprim" (has a long name Trigmoperthrim?) .. usually within 2 days I would be ok. Once he prescribed a different antibiotic (type of penicillin) & I got thrush & got the UTI back 10 days later (oh fun...) .. & again passed on.. (oh dear). If I don't get antibiotics within the first 1-2hrs I get severe pain & bleeding..
we have been so careful with showers & peeing before & after which kills the spontaneous fun sex but last year I only got it once. (no idea why)...
I got this UTI again yesterday, well I was 100% sure last night when the familiar pain urinating & need 2 go got worse when I was out with friends. As there were no centres open I had to go to the hospital, as I said I leave it a few hours I bleed so..??.. I went to 2 nurses & told them what I had, my sympto & they requested a urine sample.. then I had 2 wait 2hrs 2 see a doc.. clearly getting worse. When I finally saw the doc (not my regular one), I told her what I had, my symptoms, that i had it before many times & I needed 2 get medication ASAP as I was in pain. She made me hold the sample for a further hour waiting for a nurse, She then asked me was I pregnant? (no), having my period? (no), having breathing difficulty? (no), do I wipe properly? (hu-lo im an adult not an idiot..) I told her I shower before & after sex, & pee & dont have anal sex... so over answering the same dumb questions!!!! She checked my breathing & temp, felt my stomach and made me stick my tongue out.... The nurse kept asking did I have periods as by this time there was blood in my urine & I told her the same story I had been for 3hrs .. "I have a UTI"....I overheard them talking about me in the backroom and then finally she told me I had a UTI (wow u dont say..)... & I got my script.. i was in a lot of pain & pretty angry.. I asked the chemist why since so many women get this, is it not over the counter? He replied that if you take it too much it might not work anymore.. well its all that works for me.. he proceeded to try & tell me that there are other things I could try... I told him if he was talking about Cranberry Juice, Tabs or Ural FORGET IT!...
My doctor has suggested if I get it alot again maybe trying tabs before /after sex.. what are they?! Im willing to try everything! Should I see a Urologist/Gyno? Do I need a referral?Comment
