Not an STD
Hi i'm a 20 year old female whose had 3 sexual partners all of which I have used a condom with. About 6 months ago I noticed one tiny sore right on the edge of my vulva, it was red and stung if touched however I brushed it off as a cut from shaving and after a couple weeks it seemed to stop bothering me (This sore first appeared about 2 months after having intercourse with a guy I was seeing) Then it starting bothering me again!!! sure enough in the exact same spot! I immediately had a panic attack that this was an STD seeing as not even condoms can protect you from herpes. I rushed to my local STD testing clinic and had a swab AND blood test done specifically for herpes seeing as these tests are not included in a regular STD test. The nurse seemed pretty positive it was herpes and sent me home with a prescription of valtrex for 3 days. I panicked, how could I have herpes when I had limited my sexual partners AND been safe with protection every single time. I had never even had oral sex performed on me which ruled out oral transmission of this. I went to my family doctor for a second opinion and she told me it did not look like a regular herpes lesion and since I experienced no other common symptoms such as tingling, burning, multiple blisters or common flu like symptoms with the first "outbreak" that she doubted this could be herpes. However just to be sure she also sent me to get blood work too for both type 1 and 2 simplex. A few days later I got a call from the STD clinic with my results...everything was negative, the swab, blood test and for all other STD's as well. Also to note my doctors office never called back with their secondary blood test which again means those results were negative too. I was completely relived! it stopped bothering me again, maybe for about a week and half however it's back again! I don't know what in the world this could possibly be! when it's not bothering me the spot where the sore is looks slightly more pink but other than that nothing is there however when irritated it becomes very pink and raised, almost scaly like you can feel little bumps. It never blisters and always occurs in the exact same spot! It stings when touched or when wiping and occasionally itches but other than that I don't notice it. does anyone know what this could be?!Last edited by tkcunnin; 05-21-2013, 08:34 PM.
