I'm just at a loss.. Is there any hope??

I feel strange talking about it but maybe somebody can help shed some light on my problem.

It started this year in the summer but when I was in the shower just cleaning like I normally do I suppose I wanted to check my scent? And what I got was a funky smell. My gyno said that it's normal females get out of balance and what not BUT my scent is normal every way possible except up inside of me. I was so scared to have sex even with someone that I have history with. It's more of an embarrassment than anything. It's like I NEVER had to worry about anything, I kept myself clean, the guys I dated always said that one of the things they liked about me was that I kept it clean. And now this...

I was SUPER embarrassed one night when I started to smell it and I was like "crap he probably smells it too and going to be turned off and never talk to me again" But luckily for me he has no sense of smell and if he did notice it well it didn't scare him off. But since then I've been trying to use rePHresh which has worked but I HAVE to use every 3-4 days like it says just to keep a some what normal sex life going and it sucks. The gyno said "Yeah it works and it'll help keep you in balance." But honestly I just want my healthy vagina back without having to spend $30 a month just to maintain it. It's killing my confidence in the bedroom.

I've changed my diet around, became more active then less active trying to figure it out. And I have a theory but it's silly.. I've been in pretty committed relationships so we didn't use condoms and the sex life was pretty healthy and often SO I was thinking that their "cum" helped keep me in balance? I haven't had that regular routine and this new guy always uses a condom so crazy theory right?

Does anyone else have something similar going on? Went through something similar? Should I just go back to the gyno and have him test me for BV and stuff? Because I haven't had any discharge or itching or anything weird other than that nasty scent. Things have gotten a little weird down there AFTER using rePHresh but other than that it works so I'm just frustrated wishing I could get back to being comfortable sexually again without having to use this stuff...

Sorry hon, I don't have any experience with this. I'm doubtful about the effect of semen on your balance, but I guess you never know.

The doctor is always a good idea ....that's what they're there for.

A harmless bacterial infection with no other symptoms is known to cause a smell described as fishy and a doctor visit is required to get rid of that. Otherwise you may just not like your scent as much as someone else. It's genetic to dislike scents similar to your own. Probably to help avoid inbreeding a long time ago. Also your scent can change as your hormones do. When I go off birth control pills I hate my own scent including all of my body not just down there. I also dislike the scent down there right after my period even when on seasonique that has no inactive pills. I trim the hair really short or even shave it completely off some areas and use vagisil wipes to keep it all clean until my scent returns to normal. With seasonique that only happens every 3 months.
