Okay, I'm going to try to make this as short as possible.

On May 1st I had sex with my boyfriend, used a condom, condom broke (i know why now-- not enough lube). Immediately, I went to CVS and purched an emergency contraception pill called "Take Action". I am not on birth control right now.
I didn't experience any symptoms from that, no nausea, vomiting, whatever. I was worrying, so a week later I took a pregnancy test, it was negative, and then I started my period. I though, oh, it's early, whatever, it's probably the pill. It was supposed to start on the 24th of May, instead it started on the 8th.
So, it ended on the 13th, all fine and well.
Then, a week after it ended, on the 20th, it started again. I figure, it's probably the pill, right? Even though it's supposed to be non-hormonal? Or it could be stress? Or whatever, it'll just end in a week and then I'll be fine. I took another test to be sure, not pregnant, cool.
And a week later it ended. And it started again the next day. Then that ended a week later. And it started again the next day, Etc.
So now here I am, still bleeding, and I'm really starting to freak out.

I'm 21 years old, I've tried birth control pills before, and one of them worked for me, and then I wanted to try Depo Provera, and that was just really awful. The entire three months I was on my first shot was entirely period. I did not get a second shot, and it took a year for my period to return to 'normal' for me.
Normal being a week to about ten days long, heavy flow, awful cramps, and then an immediate tapering off to a very light ugly finish. I've been normal for about a year now. Before I started using BC pills, my period was 'normal' at two weeks long every two months. Now it's a week every month. Well, except for now I guess, ha.

I haven't taken another test, I don't really think I need to, and I don't want to keep wasting money, but I might soon.
I'm kind of under a lot of stress, but I'm always under stress. I am constantly putting myself under necessary stress, so I don't think it's that, idk.
I'm just confused and freaking out, and I'm really hating being on my period this long. I've been bleeding since the 20th of may. It's annoying and it's as painful as any normal period, exact same rate of flow, it's completely like a normal period, except they are immediately one after another.

Any advice you have is a huge help. I'm not positive that this is the EC pill's doing, but I could be mistaken. I don't know. I'm just really annoyed and kind of scared.

The chances of your being pregnant are nil, especially with that much bleeding. EC are pretty reliable! Stress is a killer and can make cycles VERY erratic. However, at the very least, I'd call my gyn and explain as you have here. Besides being annoying and painful, a constant flow could cause anemia and you made need to take an iron supplement.

Emergency contraceptive is hormonal. It's basically a whole bunch of birth control pills crammed in to one pill. The hormones can wreak havoc with some people for months. You can't be pregnant with much bleeding. The bleeding is a loss of some of the uterine wall which builds up between periods to support an egg. When you bleed the unfertilized egg and lining that supports an egg comes out. Even smaller amounts of blood usually means too much damage to the lining to have an egg implant. On hormonal birth control there also often isn't an egg. You have periods as basically a withdrawal symptom from the hormones no longer being there instead of from the action of the ovaries releasing eggs. The EC and body systems like your ovaries are probably have a tug of war on what should happen. If it goes on for more than 2-3 months I would see a doctor. Otherwise don't worry.

You can get no frills pregnancy tests dirt cheap in bulk online and they are the same ones used in doctor offices. I had a pack of 20 pregnancy tests and a pack of 20 ovulation tests for like $20. My period is absolutely random off birth control so tests are a requirement for peace of mind when I have to stop for some reason.
