Laparoscopy and looking for Alibaby she always has the best answer.
Hi my name is Jill Closs,
I was suppose to have surgery on December 17 I was able to change it to February 13 my question my OBGYN want me to drink this stuff to clean out my bowel has any else had to drink this stuff before having a Laparoscopy. The real reason is when I had a colonscopy I had to drink the same stuff half way through drinking the stuff I got sick to my stomach and started throwing up. Also does any one know what in involed in a pre-opt physical for a laparoscopy. This is the first time that I'm having this kind of surgery. Thanks Jill Closs -
Hi Jacloss.
I'm sorry that I couldn't answer earlier. My kids went back to school today and I had to catch up on my errands. I'm a bit embarrassed that you would think that I have the best answers. I just answer with what I know and if I don't know, I say so. But I appreciate your confidence in my answers. I'm sorry that you had to push back the date of your surgery, but spending Christmas with your brother is a good reason. I was also with my brother and his family over the Christmas holiday...it's probably the best Christmas that my kids have ever had...one that they will always remember.
I've never had laparoscopic surgery before. But I did have pre-op testing in 2006 for a tubal ligation which was to be done laparoscopically, but I cancelled the day before I was scheduled to have surgery...It was pretty much a routine physical: weight, height, bloodwork, urinalysis (with nurse watching
), family history, etc. I was told not to take aspirin because it can affect the blood's ability to clot, which can affect recovery. You're having it done to check for endometriosis, so there may be specific tests that are associated with that medical condition. I was never given that bowel cleanser (and with what you describe, thank goodness!). I'm sorry that I don't have more info to give..maybe someone else has a complete experience to share. But I hope that you'll be feeling better soon. And I wish you a happy and healthy new year.

I've had one. They had me take a laxitive and an enema to clear the bowels. I'm assuming to make as much room in the abdominal cavity as possible.
The whole thing for me lasted 4 hours. From the time I went to the office until they sent me home. It wasn't too bad.
Just remember to give yourself plenty of time to rest the following week and don't do anything too strenuous.
If you have other questions ask away, I'm just drawing a blank right now.Comment

I had one in sept 05. The only thing I had to do was not eat or drink anything 12 hours before surgery. But the laparoscopy wasn't painful ata all after wrod. maybe some cramping but no where near as bad as my menstrual cramps. I'm sure everything will go good. Good luck to you. Do you have endometriosis or are they checking to see if you do? That's how mine was diagnosed. but if you have any other ?? about it let me know. good luckComment

Jacloss,
I usually look in on this site a few times a day, when I'm not doing schoolwork or up to my elbows in kid-related stuff. And I see that you have a few responses. Isn't this a great place to find info? And when you're all healed, I hope that you'll share your experience for other women that might pass by this site. In the mean time, try not to worry. I believe that you will be seeing better days.
