I am almost 29 now, married 5 years ago. When I was in high school, I have always had irregular period, even I missed my period for a few years, but I did not go to a doctor that time. Then I got married and my period was again normal for about 1-2 years and after that it was every 3 months. Then I saw my gyn doctor and she gave me some medication ( I forgot its name), so my period came back, it was regular for 2 months but then again irregular and I used that medication every 3 months to have my period. Last summer when my period did not come, I did not go to see my doctor to take the medication again and I did not get my period for about 1 year. After 1 year missing period, I saw my doctor again and after doing some blood test, she said my prolactin level was high, she was suspected I may have Pituitary tumor, so she asked me to do MRI, I was so scared at that time.
After MRI, the result showed that I have Microadenoma and the doctor asked me to take Bromocriptine and she said no need to worry and some women have this problem and is not dangerous and not cancer. I also did some research myself and saw yes, I do not need to worry. I was just taking Bromocriptine every day and this does not influenced my life at all (just at first I felt a little nausea and drowsy). I should say from the second month of taking this medication my period got regular, I had regular periods for 2 month and the third month I was pregnant
I was pregnant even without trying to be pregnant, we had natural birth control and sometimes used condom. I am week 10 now and my baby is doing good. My doctor told me I do not need to take medication while I am pregnant because prolactin goes high for everybody during pregnancy. I hope this helps, good luck everybody.
